Recently, the greenhouse effects brought by the growth of carbon emissions have caused serious global environment issues. The development of globalization brought the situation to the global industrial chain that the change of a single sector would not only influence itself but also have the systemic cascading effects on the entire industrial chain system.Hence,it is very necessary to uncover the structure characteristics of industrial chain network and include the influence of network characteristics when reconstructing industrial chain structure for economic growth and carbon emission reduction.Based on this, this paper major aims to optimize the current industrial structure for achieving the carbon emission reduction and economic growth goals from a global industrial chain network perspective.Specific work and innovation contributions are reflected in the following aspects:(1)Proposing the systemic indexes for industrial chain network analysis to quantify the structure characteristics of global industrial chain network and the structure roles of sectors in the network. It made up for the deficiency of traditional network analysis which focused on the topology structure of network but ignored the essential characteristics of the industrial chain. The results showed that different sectors played the various roles in the global industrial network, and there were a few key sectors which had the great importance on the network. These results could provide the accurate policy objectives for the adjustment of the global industrial chain for carbon emission reductions.(2)Buiding the influence quantification model to estimate the influence of structural roles of sectors in the global industrial chain network on their carbon emissions. It made up for the shortage of existing literature on the influence brought by the structure change of economic and technological linkages between sectors on carbon emissions. The results showed the different structure roles of sectors had the significant and various influence on carbon emissions, and there were significant differences on the main factors between countries. These results could provide a clear direction for the adjustment of the production activities of each sector for carbon emission reductions.(3)Proposing the network-based industrial chain optimization model to simulate the adjustment process of the production activities of sectors for economic growth and carbon emission reductions. It made up for the deficiency of the existing industrial chain optimization model which ignored the possible cascading effects brought by the change of a single sector. The results showed the proposed optimization model had better effect than traditional optimization model. The obtained adjustment plans of the total output of each sector under different scenarios could provide detailed reference information for the adjustment of the industrial structure of countries and the establishment of industrial cooperation mechanism among countries for the global carbon emission reductions.
