After a comprehensive analysis of the extraction method of patent knowledge,the innovative design method based on patent knowledge,and the present research status of knowledge in the international patent classification table(IPC),an innovative design method based on extracting knowledge from the IPC.The main research progress is reflected in the following four aspects:1.Design knowledge and its representation in the IPCThe idea of extracting design knowledge from the IPC is proposed.The knowledge in the IPC was divided into three levels:function,effect and structure knowledge.To establish the relationship between the knowledge,quantitative parameters were defined as function relevance,effect interchangeability,effect universality and structure compatibility.The process of acquiring these design knowledge from the IPC was presented,and the acquired knowledge was organized and represented in the form of knowledge network to assist innovation design.Taking the innovative design of the electric heating faucet as an example,it showed that the design knowledge acquisition from the IPC can effectively expand the creative thinking of the designers,thus promoting the generation of innovative solutions.2.Community detection of design knowledge in the IPC and its application strategies to innovative designA co-occurrence network of functional verbs was constructed by extracting and analyzing the co-occurrence relation of functional verbs from the IPC.The Newman greedy algorithm(CNM algorithm)was used to detect communities in the functional verb co-occurrence network.Four typical topological relations between the nodes of the network were summarized.The topological relations between the internal and inter community nodes were analyzed.Nine product functional innovation heuristics were proposed according to the topological features of the node connection of the functional verbs and the four types of patents in Guidelines for patent examination of China.Based on the watering-draining-drying co-occurrence network and the sorting-collecting co-occurrence network,the nine functional innovation heuristics and their applications were illustrated with examples.One of the functional innovation heuristics had been applied to invent a pipeline lighting system using power supply from drainage energy.3.Empirical study on the impact of the IPC design knowledge on inspirationFor the lack of research on the impacts of the innovation methods on stimulating the inspiration of designers,an empirical study is proposed to analyze the impacts of the factors that stimulate inspiration.Three factors were summarized such as knowledge,relations of knowledge and innovative heuristics.Representations of the three factors that extracted from the IPC were analyzed.Two stages of the experiment were conducted.The results show that the verbs in IPC have a significant effect on inspiring innovative inspiration.The relations of knowledge expressed in forms and texts have no significant effect on inspiring innovative inspiration while the relations of knowledge expressed in forms of graphs have significant effect.Innovative heuristics have a tendency to inspire innovation inspiration but not significant.The combined effect of knowledge relationship and innovative heuristics can compensate for the designer's lack of experience.4.Research on computer aided innovation system based on design knowledge in the IPCBased on the previous theoretical research,a computer aided innovation system realizing the innovative design process based on design knowledge in the IPC was developed.The system is composed of design knowledge extraction module,knowledge relationship analysis and innovation design module,inspiration heuristic verification analysis module and system management module.Combined with an example,the operating interface and approach of the function modules of the system were illustrated,and the effectiveness of the system was preliminarily verified.
