Research On Eastern Suburbs Memorial Field In Nanjing And The Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum

In history,Zhongshan Mountain has always been the most important geographical landmark for the city of Nanjing.The eastern suburb where it located represents not only historical and natural landscape but also the sign of cultural ceremony,Fengshui and geopolitics,which constantly given a symbol of sacredness and power.In the long history of urban construction in Nanjing for more than two thousand years,The eastern suburb memorial field has accumulated a profound historical context and resources.By the study of ancient literature and modern historical materials,Thesis organizes the time and space vicissitude of this area.Also,by combining the research of records in ancient books of Fengshui about Zhongshan Mountain and modern GIS data analysis,Thesis deduces the reasons of why it becoming the memorial field which composed by mostly mausoleums.By In-depth study the newly published Archives of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum,Thesis tries to present the entire process of the preparation,design,construction,operation and maintenance of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum,which is the most important architecture in the eastern suburb memorial field.By cross contrast of huge amount of archives such as original drawings,correspondence letters,minutes of the meetings and decrees,Thesis parses out the original conception and form source of the design of Mausoleum.Further,through 3D Modeling deconstruction of original construction drawings,Thesis visually and clearly shows the internal structure logic and material construction practice of the main architecture of Mausoleum.Thus,revealing the architectural significance of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum both on spiritual and physical levels.On a macro level,by interpreting the institutional literatures of various stages,such as planning,rules and regulations of roads,landscape,municipal pipeline etc.,Thesis presents the dramatically changing on the form of the eastern suburb memorial field in Modern history.And through the analysis of the construction process of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Garden,it attempts to discuss the process of the birth and maturity of the modern construction system in China.Finally,by organizing the precious historical archives,Thesis provides convenience for scholars who study the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and Modern Chinese architecture.And it also inspires the construction activities of Contemporary architecture in China,through historical revelation and valuable thinking.
