Tea,Camellia sinensis(L.)Kuntze,is an important economic crop in China.Ectropis grisescens Warren and Ectropis obliqua Prout are two sibling geometrids that seriously affect the quality and production of tea.These two sibling species fed on tender leaf and bud,makes great economical loss.Sex pheromones are ideal substances for use in moth pests control.In order to provide theoretical basis for application technology of sex pheromone to control these two geometrids.Chemical dentification and correlative chemical ecology studies on sex pheromone of E.grisescens and E.obliqua were conducted.1.The E.grisescens/E.obliqua samples from different areas were accurately identified by comparing mitochondrial CO I gene sequences.The geographical distribution of E.grisescens and E.obliqua were clarified.Suzhou and Wuxi city in Jangsu province are distribution region of E.obliqua,Zhenjaing city in Jangsu province,Xuancheng city in Anhui province,and Hangzhou city in Zhejiang province are mixed-occuring regions of E.grisescens and E.obliqua,all the other tea growing areas in China are distribution region of E.grisescens except the cities mentioned above.2.Fmale-male proportion,courtship rhythm and behavior,mating time and duration between E.grisescens and E.obliqua were compared.The optimal timing for sex pheromone extraction and bioactivity assay of sex pheromone of E.grisescens and E.obliqua were ascertained.3.Gas chromatography–electroantennographic detection(GC-EAD)and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)revealed Z3,Z6,Z9-18:H and Z3,epo6,Z9-18:H are sex pheromone components of E.grisescens.The results of quantitative analysis on the sex pheromone extraction of E.grisescens showed the contents of Z3,Z6,Z9-18:H and Z3,epo6,Z9-18:H were 6.45±0.63 ng/female and 4.58±0.53 ng/female respectively.The results of field trials showed,1mg mixture of Z3,Z6,Z9-18:H and Z3,epo6,Z9-18:H in a ratio of 4:6 showed good performance on male capture.Sticky wing trap,isoprene septa dispensers,25 cm highet above tea plant,and 15 m trap interval were determined as the best operational parameters to catch E.grisescens male moth.4.Coupled with GC-EAD and GC-MS analysis,Z3,Z6,Z9-18:H,Z3,epo6,Z9-18:H and Z3,epo6,Z9-19:H were identified as sex pheromone components of E.obliqua.The results of quantitative analysis on the sex pheromone extraction of E.obliqua showed the contents of Z3,Z6,Z9-18:H,Z3,epo6,Z9-18:H and Z3,epo6,Z9-19:H were 0.64±0.06 ng/female,10.55±1.17 ng/female and 1.93±0.28 ng/female respectively.The results of field trials showed,1mg mixture of Z3,Z6,Z9-18:H,Z3,epo6,Z9-18:H and Z3,epo6,Z9-19:H in a ratio of 4:4:2 strongly attracted E.obliqua males.5.Synthesized Z3,Z6,Z9-18:H and Z3,epo6,Z9-18:H elicited dose-dependent electroantennogram(EAG)responses on male antennae of E.grisescens.Synthesized Z3,Z6,Z9-18:H,Z3,epo6,Z9-18:H and Z3,epo6,Z9-19:H elicited dose-dependent EAG responses on male antennae of E.obliqua.Wind-tunnel experiment showed,lures that contained Z3,Z6,Z9-18:H and Z3,epo6,Z9-18:H attracted E.grisescens males,however no effect showed on E.obliqua males.The addition of Z3,epo6,Z9-19:H to the blend of Z3,Z6,Z9-18:H and Z3,epo6,Z9-18:H strongly attracted E.obliqua males but had a limited attraction on E.grisescens males.The results of this investigation tentatively revealed the mechanism of interspecific mating communication isolation between E.grisescens and E.obliqua.The conclusion of this dissertation showed important significance for developing sex pheromone application technology of E.grisescens and E.obliqua and tentatively revealed the sex pheromone communication mechanism of sibling moths in tea plantation.
