Music therapy of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is an ancient but young subject and can be traced back to the era of witchcraft jungle.However,its ideology and practical experience are scattered in the vast sea of documents without forming complete theoretical system.It was spread to China along with theories and methods of western music therapy in the 1980s.Since the 1990s,scholars from the circles of TCM and musicology have acquired intense cultural self-consciousness and started to explore music therapy system with local cultural characteristics.Nevertheless,due to the difference of theoretical systems between Chinese medicine and western medicine as western music therapy is established upon formal logic and systematic experimental methods,while music therapy of TCM is based on image-number model and dialectical thinking,its theoretical languages are abstract and can't be distinguished the true from the false,it rarely has the discourse right in modern world's music therapy system.How to establish a music therapy system of TCM that has localization features and can compete with modern western medicine is not only a question about medical technology and methodology,but also a cultural problem to be reflected on.By putting the study on music therapy of TCM into the context of cultural anthropology and constructing three-dimensional spaces of the study on music therapy of TCM from multi-perspectives,including historical context space,interdisciplinary context space and cross-cultural context space,this paper reveals localization characteristics and unique times value of music therapy of TCM after looking back on traditions,focusing on the present,setting eyes on the world and seeking future development pattern for music therapy of TCM and making comparison between music therapy of TCM and western music therapy.Research methods applied to this study mainly include historical document study,cross-cultural comparison study and cultural analytical method.First,this paper is traced back the development and transition of music therapy in the context of witchcraft culture and reveals the relation between witchcraft music therapy and music therapy of TCM and its contemporary regression.Witchcraft music therapy not only shows it is "separated but not detached" from TCM in concept expression,but also holds the same view with modern medical model "physiology-psychology-society".The contemporary regression of witchcraft music therapy is a spontaneous phenomenon of health preserving culture among the people that reflects on contemporary medical dilemma.Second,it exploits cultural genes of music therapy of TCM in the context of traditional culture and constructs ideology,concept and practice of music therapy in Confucianism and Taoism culture.The music therapy concept of "yin-yang",and "five elements" can be traced back to the concept of nature in the ancient farming era and the concept of five aspects in the Yin-Shang dynasty and has impact on concept,theory and practice of music therapy of Confucianism and Taoism.The gene of traditional culture has determined local cultural characteristics of music therapy of TCM,which are different from modern western music therapy,and also determined theoretical system,thinking method,value concept and clinical application of music therapy of TCM.From the analysis of aesthetic phenomenon,it summarizes that the "beauty"of music has therapeutic functions such as "resonance stimulation","reinforcing-reducing with balancing" and "empathy reflection" and is reflected in the therapeutic mechanism of three mutually affected and interacted aspects,"physiology","psychology" and "society".Third,it carries out theoretical study on aesthetics dimension and medical dimension and builds a context of equal dialogue between different subjects through analysis of the relation between music and medicine.Based on the discussion of therapeutic value,therapeutic function and therapeutic mechanism of the "beauty" of music through the combined methods of universality and individual cases,this study starts from the methodology of TCM and summarizes the way of thinking,value of modern medicine and cultural connotation of music therapy of TCM.Finally,it makes cross-cultural comparison between western music therapy and music therapy of TCM and explores the relation between "localization" and "internalization" and the meaning of music therapy of TCM in the cross-cultural context.It is exactly because of the difference and resonance in Chinese culture and western culture that makes "localization" of music therapy of TCM developed to"internalization" possible.There is a isomorphic relation among TCM culture,traditional culture and ancient music aesthetic ideology.In the micro-level,it shows the isomorphism of music theory and principle of medical science.In the meso-level,it shows the isomorphism of cultural genes.In the macro-level,it reveals "national" and "localized" health concept and life consciousness from the perspective of anthropology.
