On The Spatial Narrative In Modern Chinese Fiction

In modern Chinese literature,fiction,as the most influential and representative literary genre,has broken through the whole pattern of time narrative in traditional Chinese fiction since the"May 4th Literary Movement".With its strong non-logic and non-causality features,it expresses the trend of anti-tradition and innovation,which leads the fictive narrative toward the narrative mode against "time",and accordingly,it enriches modern Chinese fiction with distinct characteristics of the era and modernity.For a long time,it has been a common practice in the study of modern Chinese fiction to emphasize time narrative over spatial narrative.The space element is outstanding in modern Chinese fiction and the prominence of space embodies the aesthetic shift in fiction narrative.The fact that spatial narrative takes place of the causality and logical sequence in time narrative makes it inevitable for the stylistic features of the modern fiction and representation methods in modern fiction to be permeated with the interior elements of space aesthetics."Space" is a dialectical concept with the fusion of materialization and conceptualization,but it shows more orientation on abstract conceptualization connotation in narrative structure of the fiction.Social spatial narrative is the main structure in the realism fiction,and it takes real space in social reality and scenes as basic geographical point.The different types of space,such as individual space,revolution space and national space are the virtual forms of spatial narrative in fiction construction,which shows that the writing subject focuses on the era,takes on life of the reality,and criticizes the reality in multi-dimension,and penetrates the era ideology of the era and society.Emotion spatial narrative holds a most prominent place in romanticism lyric fiction,which makes the good ideal space as the key of fiction construction,and shows people's emotional gap between the conversion of time and space in social reality.The imagination of the foreign and the reality of the dream create pastoral space of emotional sustenance,and they also contain their complex life.It is a kind of the appeal of the native complex.Psychological spatial narrative performs "fragmentation" in the urban and city life as the viewpoint of sense and impression in modernist fiction,and it reveals various social landscapes in the urban space.Each type of irrational image accumulates in the character's psychological space.To make the space clear,sometimes a writer presents them in turn the scenic spot and the performance of fantasy,or in the imbalances of the characters' "double desires",so that the characters' spiritual world is fully revealed.The study on spatial narrative of the style of modern Chinese fictions has a certain historical and realistic significance,and we look forward to further study.
