Emendation Of Tang Huiyao

Wang Pu's Tang Huiyao???is the first histocial works written in the literature style of Huiyao existing in China,as well as one of the most important historical resources during the research of the instutions of Tang Dynasty.The compilers includes several persons,such as Su Mian ??,Cui Xuan ?? and Wang Pu ??,which resulted in a complicated process.The first chapter discusses the three periods in the process of the creation of Tang Huiyao.By the achievements of the predecessors,Su Mian chose the word "huiyao"as the book title for the first time,creating a new form of compilling the historical records with the compendiums of institutions of government and society.Addicted to learning and collecting books,Su Mian probably made a certain contribution to the compilling of Tang Huiyao.On imperial orders,Cui Xuan,Yang Shaofu ??? et al compiled the 40 volumes of Xuhuyao ??? in the era of Dazhong ??,adding the historical records of seven emperors from Dezong ?? to Xuanzong ??.At the beginning of Jianlong ?? of the Northern Song Dynasty,selecting the events after Xuanzong??,Wang Pu complemented the Tang Huiyao to 100 volumes with the records of Su Mian and Cui Xuan together.After the spreading of more than one thousand years,the existing editions of Tang Huiyao have a great many mistakes;some volume are even fragmentary.It is likely that Tang Huiyao only existed in the form of handed-copies after Song Dynasty for a long time.The second chapter investigates the origin and spreading of the existing editions.According to the academic,the existing editions of Tang Huiyao are mainly the handed-copies of Qian ?? in Changshu and the collecting editions of Wang Qishu???,After my survey,they both belong to the system of the collecting edition of Wang Qishu,whereas Wuyingdian Juzhenban Congshu ????????? which is considered based on Si Ku Quan Shu ???? presents a difference in edition.What is complicated,there is a phenomenon of mutual excerpt among the different editions of Tang Huiyao.It is important to reorganize the origin and spreading of these editions in returning to the original edition.It is well acknowledged that the 7th,8th,9th and 10th volume are supplied by the descendants.The scholars compilling Si Ku Quan Shu pointed out that there were quite a lot of mistakes in the master editions of Tang Huiyao used by them;the seventh volume to the tenth volume were supplied according to "another edition",and were noted with the word "supplement" in order to show the difference.However,the latter half of the 92th volume,the 93th and 94th volume have always be regarded as the original editions of Tang Huiyao.The third and the fourth chapter seperately study the supplement from the 7th volume to the 10th volume,and the latter half of the 92th volume,the 93th and 94th volume are not the original editions,which should be supplemented by the posterity.It could be considered as the counterfeit,as there is no illustration for the supplement.The fifth chapter mainly makes a research on the citation of Tang Huiyao by Yuhai ?? and Wenxian Tongkao ????.There are many fragmentary entries in the existing editions of Tang Huiyao,especially the 7th volume to the 9th volume recording the modality,regulations,the related imperial edict and memorials,which horizontally presented the ritual system of Tang Dynasty.It is of great significance to restore this part in the further study of Tang Huiyao,and even the history of Tang Dynasty.The sixth chapter is mainly the emendation of the wordage in Tang Huiyao,revising the mistakes,missing,derivation,reedition and the order confusion in the text,all of which are presented in the form of term.Also,the lost text of Tang Huiyao is attached to the end of this dissertaion.
