The Relation Between "A Rgument In Accordance With Classics" And The Theory Construction Of Wenxindiaolong

As a mode of discourse,"Argument-in-Accordance-with-Classic"(Argument-Classics for short),is not only a way of theoretical construction,but also a way of thinking deeply rooted in the Chinese culture.Closely related to the ideological and cultural foundation such as Saint Worship,Classical Worship,Language Worship,Respecting Teachers-and-Elders,it became a common cultural phenomenon after Five Confucian Classics were established in the Han dynasty.Its development experienced a longitudinal continuity from the Han to the Qing as well as a horizontal dispersion from Confucian Classics to History,Zi,Ji and other disciplines in the academic field and in practise.In the the History of Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties,Cao Pi,Lu Ji and Shen Yue,Xiao Tong,Zhong Rong and Yan Zhi-tui,who had argumented according to the Classics,then it could be seen before or in the era of Liu Xie," Argument-Classics " is a common cultural phenomenon.The theory construction of Liu Xie's Wenxindiaolong,which was named as "A book with large structure and precise thinking" in the history of ancient Chinese literature theory,was relative with the author's conditions and was objectively influenced by many ideas such as the Confucianism,Taoism,Buddhism and metaphysics.Among them,Argument-Classics had important effects on the theory construction of Wenxindiaolong.W enxindiaolong had more than 1000 quotes from Confucian Classics,which indicated that Liu Xie accurately recognized Argument-Classics.There were three reasons for Liu Xie's application of Argument-Classics:Historically,the increasingly weakened elegant style of the Three Generations should be restored;in Reality,the seriousl formalist style should be corrected;Subjectively,deeply affected by Confucianism,Liu Xie hoped to be immortal by writing.Argument-Classics influenced the theory construction of Wenxindiaolong with its deep influence being on the way of thinking.Firstly,Zhouyi fully reflected the integral-thinking of Confucian Classics,which impacted the integral-thinking of Wenxindiaolong in three aspects.That is,the integrity of the whole book,the integrity of creation theory and the integrity of the criticism theory.Secondly,Eclectic thoughts existed in Confucian Classics affected the integral theoretical construction of Wenxindiaolongand the theoretical categories such as "TongBian","FengGu" and"CaiXue",etc as well as the detailed matters such as "change of rhyme".Thirdly,The traceability of thinking in Zhouyi influenced Wenxindiaolong on the ontology of"Tao-oriented Pattern",the stylistics which took the Confucian Classics as its source and highest standard and its tendency in following classical styles.Argument-Classics influenced the theoretical construction of Wenxindiaolong,which was reflected in the whole book and can be illustrated from three aspects:the concentrated reflection in Six Benefits following the Classics,the important literary criticism in accordance with Confucian Classics,general literary criticism according to Confucian Classics.Six benefits following the Classics reflected intensively the Argument-Classics of Wenxindiaolong.In that,"Deeply Sentimental and Fresh Style("????")" was according to the thought in Mao's preface to the Book of Odes such as "Emotion Raised in the Mind was Embodied in Language"," Wind to move them,Enlighten by education";"Real Things and Justicial Doctrine("????")" was in compliance with the spirit of "Inner faith(??)”and "Modification and Genuineness" in ZhouYi,the tradition of "true history" put forwarded by ChunQiu and the fact Confucianism hate"foolish rhetoric"."Contracted Style and Flowery Language("????"),also complied to the thought of "Diction Upholds to Express Important Significance(" ???? ")"in ShangShu,"the pursuit of conciseness and magnificence" in ZhouYi,"the saying without literary grace cannot be implemented to a large range" in ZuoZhuan,and"Real Feeling,Clever Words" in Liji.The important literary criticism in Wenxindiaolong was Argument-Classics,such as"Yuandao","odd-and-regular",the Stylistics,"Fengu","Tongbian," Wen and Zhi"and "the beauty of Right and Hormany",etc."Yuandao" established the idea that "the pattern oriented from Tao?" which was according to ZhouYi.The opinion of"odd-and-regular" includes three points which was Argument-Classics:compatible between Odd and Regular,Regular order Odd,abandoned Odd in accordance with Regular."Zongjing advocated that the Confucian Classics should be the highest standards and the source of various styles,which was the guiding principle of the Stylistics.Then,looking from four construction principles which included "Source and Development,Name and Meaning,Example and Comments,Representations and Systems",the stylistics was also Argument-Classics.The main content of "Fenggu"was "Lucid and Vigorous Style of Writing",which was linked to the vigorous spirit of Confucian Classics especially in ZhouYi,and the references of Judgment Words of"Daxiu”and "Tongren" showed their relationship of Argument-Classics.The concept of "Tongbian" was totally in accordance with the "Tongbian" thought of Zhouyi.The theory of Wen and Zhi carried on the Confucian theory of Unity of the cotent and the form.The theory of Beauty of Right and Hormany(A view of art harmony)was close related to the Confucian theory of "Right","Hormany","Right and Hormany","The golden mean",and "Correct and timely"etc.The general literary criticism in Wenxindiaolong was also according to Confucian Classics.The concept of "Utility" and "Moralization" in Xuzhi,Yuandao,Zhengsheng,Zongjing and the emphasis on the function of various styles,was in accordance with the utilitarianism of Confucian.Liu Xie's concept of "Bixing",his remark on the Book of Odes and his discourse on the praise or satire function of poem was linked to Confucian Classics,such as "Liji-Jinjie","Mao's preface to the Book of Odes" and "the Book of Odes".The theory "Modification and Genuineness" repeatedly appeared in W-enxindiaolong complied with some Confucian literary criticism such as "Poems express will","Emotion raised in the mind was embodied in language" and "Mental activiated by objects and then expressed in voice" etc." Diction upholds to express important significance" in Wenxindiaolong retained its original meaning in Shangshu.Liu Xie's reference to "Five cases in ChunQiu",directly or indirectly,was consistent to its original meaning.Related to the function and value of literature,the opinion of "Be immortal by Writing" was also absorbed by WenxindiaolongArgument-Classics existed in Wenxindiaolong Commonly.While it imposed positive effect on the book's theory construction,it also brought certain limitations.Meanwhile,Liu Xie absorbed a variety of resources,which made the book large structure and precise thinking.
