The Study Of "Fan-Yan" Cai Ji-gong's Poems During The Later Period Of Joseon Dynasty

Cai Ji-gong,the prime minister litterateur in late Korean Dynasty and disciple of authenticConfucianist,was born in famous family,inherited the spirit of excellent ancient Chinese poets and greatly promoted the development of the Chinese literature in Korea by his gorgeous language and active reform thoughts.Cai Ji?gong assisted wise emperors,and actively promoted the renaissance of Korean literature.He also gives great sympathy to common people when governing the county.Both Yeongjo and Jeongjo highly appreciated for his achievement on politics and literature.For comprehensively study about his Chinese poetry' s characters,aesthetic features and historical value,this paper takes about 500 Chinese poems written in Yeongjo and Jeongjo Dynasties by Cai Ji-gong as study objects,looking forward exploring the influence brought by Chinese culture to Korean literature.Currently,in both Chinese and Korean academia,the study to Cai Ji-gong and the relation study with Chinese culture is still a blank area,especially the study to Cai' s Chinese poems is in the initial stage,so that more literature materials need further exploration,and new research methods and angels are in discussion.Studying Cai's Chinese works will not only help us understand the age he lives in,but also,more importantly,give modern people a channel to observe the long-existing cultural interaction and exchange happed in China and Korean Peninsula,especially the relationship between the Chinese culture and Korean culture in 18th century.It will promote the development of China and Korean Peninsula in the future.Chapter one is the introduction.Chapter two describes Cai's life and the age he lives.Chapter three and four introduce his poetry composition and its artistic characters.Chapter five explores the relationship between Cai's classics quotation and Chinese culture.Chapter six concludes the literary value and historical status of Cai's Chinese poetry.This paper analyzes the value of Cai's works and explores the reason why it was lost in history,tracing his family and study and classifying the 2300 Chinese poems in the "Far-Yan" anthology,,his main literary achievement.According to analysis,the poetry about herder and travel to Beijing are the most important topics and won the greatest achievement.Thus,this paper conducted further analysis to Zaibi Lu,Yizhou Lu,and Hanren Lu(volume one and two).Cai Jigong's writing style was influenced by the social environment,growth background and his trip to Yanjing,presenting obvious primitivism,as well as imitating to Tang poetry and Dufu ' s realism.His works were"powerful of the tiny ones,winding for the long ones" and "as extremely excellent as the master's works",according to critics.Cai Jigong ' s Chinese poetry mainly comes from Confucianism,while combines with Buddhism and Taoism.Particularly,"being worry about the troubles across the land and promoting the society when you being succeed become the prominent topics in his works.On the other hand,from his landscape poetry written in his trip to Beijing,we can easily find out his ideas of respecting Ming Dynasty and detesting Qing Dynasty.Artistically,Cai s Chinese poetry follows the ancient form and style,most of which are metrical poetry.About 70 percent of his Chinese poetry are seven-character poems,presenting the beauty of dynamic,melody and form by rhyme,tone pattern and reduplication expression.Meanwhile,Cai Ji-gong is good at choosing images,so that in his poems we can easily find the expressions of governing the society with Confucianism,managing the heart with Buddhism,and strengthening the body with Taoism.This paper conduces a deep exploration to the relationship between Cai s classics quotation and Chinese culture,analyzing the quotation from two aspects:quotation of stories and quotation of language.The former one includes political stories,famous people's story and fairy stories.The later one analyzes Cai s quotation of Chinese ancient poems,Li Sao especially,the first four history works and Du Fu's poems,and summarizes the direct effect of his quotation.As the author,I truly feel the difficulty for the comprehensive and systematic study to Cai Ji-gong's Chinese poetry.Thus,this paper mainly combs,explores and discusses about Cai's Chinese works.Also,breaking the traditional single mode research conducted by Korean scholars,this study conducts a deep research by means of“knowing his background then discussing his works”,comparative literature,psychology of literature and art and reception aesthetics,so that provides a comprehensive view to Cai Ji-gong's Chinese poetry and makes contribution to the study of Chinese literature in Korea.
