Youngsters experience tremendous changes both physically and psychologically at their age of 15 to 18. Young people belonging to this age group have their own unique culture, values and style of life. The youth subculture is penetrating into the mainstream culture and their values are expanding. Viewing from this aspect, there turns out to be a more and more obvious trend that the youth subculture in turn, affects the entire social culture in social status, employment as well as in dressing and entertainment. Thus, some people comment that "the market economy is an economy of young people" and " an era of a youth-based culture has come." However, the study on the youth costume consumption is still relatively rare, so concerns for this group of young people are of scientific and epoch-making importance.Firstly, this paper briefly introduces the 15 to 18 years old youngsters'features in their psychological, physical and social development, and their values. Based on a survey on the costume consumption of the young people at this age group, it makes an analysis of the present situation of their costume consumption and concludes a couple of features of it. Secondly, it expounds the influence that the physical characteristics of young people have on their costume consumption. It also introduces the development of adolescence, their costume tags, the physical characteristics of their bodies and how satisfied they are with their stature and dressing. Meanwhile this paper makes a detailed analysis of the contemporary youth aesthetic characteristics in the respect of the three elements of costume--- style, fabric and color. Thirdly, it makes an analysis of the factors affecting the youth costume consumption, ranging from the aspects of fashion, apparel fashion trends, the media, parents, families, schools to friends. Finally, it stresses the establishment of youth aesthetic education and modern consumption values. Following an anatomy of the misunderstandings in costume consumption, it guides the teenagers to establish a correct outlook on costume culture, and urges the community, family, and school to cooperate harmoniously to set up a youth aesthetic education project in order to cultivate rational and healthy consumption among young people and focus on their inward beauty.A healthy costume consumption culture among the young people mirrors not only their favorable spirit but also the healthy state of their mind. This paper does not only offer some help to those theoreticians and practical workers who do research on the youth costume consumption culture, but also inspires those who educate the young people.
