Immigrants In Their New Home:The Population Resettlement Of Sanmenxia Reservoir Area Of Shaanxi Province(1956-1966)

Since the founding of new China in 1949,the activities that were similar to reservoir resettlement had been advancing continuously.And the Immigrant Project of Sanmenxia Reservoir was a typical case.The article focused on the Sanmenxia reservoir resettlement of Shaanxi province,and explored the relationship between the state,society and the immigrants.It was to present the complexity of the reservoir resettlement.The paper was based on the documents,the oral materials,and other related historical materials,mainly studies on the evacuated population of Shaanxi.The immigrants had many complex identities.They were the individual people,which relatived to the Country.They were also the pessants.Those complex identities were combined with the identity of Sanmenxia reservoir immigrant,and made it into a double-edged sword.It became as in important weapon for the immigrants,when they had to reverse the weak position.On the contrary,it might be aggravate the contradictions between the immigrants and their new hometown,and caused them to bacome the others of the new hometown.The political power made the identity of Sanmenxia reservoir immigrants with special political aura.And it palyed a strong activities in the evacuation.For the consideration of consolidation the evacuated results,the power might became an dependent power for the immigrants.In contrast,for consideration of the realities,it also became invalid.Those matters reflected that the local level made an effective use of their power and the autonomy in their own areas.The paper consists of five chapters and the ending.The first chapter was introduction.It introduced the background of the immigration and the initial response to the immigration of shaanxi province.The second chapter introduced the detailed information about the reservoir immigration and resettlement.There were over 403000 immigrants of the whole reservoir area.And the number of resettlement people was more than 280 thousands in shaanxi privince.It was worth mentioning that the immigrants were returned to Shaanxi in 1962,who had moved to Yinchuan,Gansu province.The third chapter focused on the immigrants of shaanxi reservoir area,especially the people who resettled in the villages of Laohu had to faced the difficulties and their preventive solutions in the new hometown.The fourth chapter analyzed the relationships between the immigrants,the ancestral home and their new home.For the people of the new home,the immigrants were the others.And for their ancestral home,they were also the others.The fifth chapter was a story of Yongping village.It focused on the living conditions of the immigrants,who were resettled in the villages of Kehu.And it analyzed the special relationships between them and their new homes.
