A Study Of Chen Zengshou's Poetry

Chen Zengshou,is a very important poet inpoetry circles of China in the late Qing Dynasty,and is known as one of the“three famous poets of domestic surnamed Chen”.He has also been seen as the rising starof the Tong-guang Styleafter Chen Sanyuan and ZhengHaicang.There are many reasons for his formation of a unique personality,and his special personality and extraordinary experiencemake his poems present a unique realm and special beauty.Combined with his temperament,thought,communication and other factors,his poetic ideas and his poems areexplored,which hasprominent research significance.This dissertation is divided into seven chapters.The first chapter analyzes ChenZengshou's special temperamentand his views and values which are unity of flexibility and adherence,which are created by family,region and teachers,and so on.The second chapter summarizes Chen Zengshou's friends,and focuses on his interaction with two predecessors Chen Sanli and ZhengXiaoxu.On this basis,the differences of poetry style are compared.The third chapter mainly discusses Chen Zengshou's poeticsfrom the poetic approach and aesthetic pursuit aspects,and his poetics directly affects his poetic creation.The fourth chapter introduces Chen Zengshou's inheritance to and development of the famous scholars of the past dynastiesin chronological order,and chooses some poets who are similar to his style to compare the similarities and differences between them,and then further analyzes the reason.The fifth chapter introduces the classification of the subject matter of CangQiuge Poetry,and focuses on the characteristics of the poems onscenery,objects,dream and communication.The sixth chapter mainly introduces the artistic characteristics of CangQiuge Poetry from the aspects of deep hidden beauty and expression skill.The deep hidden beauty of CangQiuge Poetry is the embodiment of Chen Zengshou's poetics of "deep and meaningful" in his poetic creation.Although his poems are very uniquein the artistic technique,the real strength of CangQiuge Poetry is not in the technique itself,but the harmony of technique and affection,which is called"beyond languages".This is an important reason that CangQiuge Poetry can be a unique style of self-reliance inpoetry circles of China in the late Qing Dynasty.Through the analysis of Chen Zengshou's two sets of poems on falling flowers,the seventh chapterfocuses on the feelings toward times,individual feelingsand the self-seeking effortsof the Qing Adherents in the unprecedented changes of modern society.This dissertation has both macroscopic investigation into Chen Zengshou and his poems,and a lot of in-depth and meticuloustext analysis,trying to reveal the unique style of CangQiuge Poetry in the history of poetry.
