A Diachronic Study On The Changes Of Li Xiangjue’s Literature Creation

Li Xiangjue is a famous Korean-Chinese poet.His literary career is companied by the complex historical changes after the founding of new China.His literary creation has greatly contributed to the development of Korean-Chinese poetry.The research object of this article is literary works published by Li Xiangjue from 1956 to 2015.This paper makes a comprehensive analysis and study of Li Xiangjue’s literary works by using literary criticism methods such as social history criticism,formalism criticism,and post-colonialism ciriticism.The first chapter is the introduction part.The second chapter introduces the life and background of Li Xiangjue,explains the diasporic consciousness and literature view.The third chapter research the works of the period of political turmoil,and discusses the unique characteristics and romantic tendency of the poets.1956 to 1979 is the first phase of Li Xiangjue’s literary creation.During this period,Li Xiangjue mainly wrote the native lyric love poems and carols At that time,most of the poets,including Li Xiangjue,wrote love poems and carols.Li Xiangjue’s love poems,however,are full of hope for a beautiful future.The carols also reveal the misery life of the Koreans before the founding of the People’s Republic and the joy of being the masters of the country after the founding of the People’s Republic.What’s more,he exposed the tragedies caused by the party’s erroneous line,which is the unique creative feature of Li Xiangjue that has research value compared to the other authors at the same period.The fourth chapter research the works of pre-reform and opening up to explore the poet’s idea of harmony between man and nature and the tendency of classicalism.1980 to 1989 is the second phase of Li Xiangjue’s literary creation,which is the turning point of Li Xiangjue’s literary career.During this period,he attempted to integrate with nature,wrote lyric poetry and nostalgic poetry rich in human feelings and made great achievements.The poems of Li Xiangjue scattered in the sunshine at this time are warm and soft as snow,innocent and simple like a gentle and simple picture.However,there are also shortcomings like too simple in creative aproach,which is also a ubiquitous issue for the Korean poetry community today needs to be concerned about and improved.The fifth chapter research the works in the later period of reform and opening up,explores the poets’ awareness of reality participation,diasporic features and tendency of realism.1990 to 2015 is the third phase of Li Xiangjue’s literary creation.During this period,Li Xiangjue criticized unreasonable reality and life contradiction,produced a lot of satirical poems.In this particular time,he turned the review of the history of the Korean ethnic group immigrants,the thoughts of his hometown and the desire for the unification of the nation into sublime poems,showing his sense of hometown and national consciousness.Chapter Six summarizes the causes,values and historical status of Li Xiangjue’s literary creation,expounds its influence on Korean-Chinese poetry and the direction oft Korean literary future development.Although his works have become an important material in the field of studying Korean-Chinese poetry,so far,with only a few comments and collections of prefaces,Li Xiangjue and his Literature,as a whole study,is still blank especially in dissertation.Therefore,for the first time,this article attempts to study Li Xiangjue and his works as a whole.This study makes a significant contribution to the Korean-Chinese poetry and it’s also an important material for studying Korean discrete literature.Li Xiangjue was born in the dark colonial period in the Korean Peninsula,crossed the border to China,experienced colonial and non-colonial times.He experienced the great changes of history in the founding of New China-the Cultural Revolution-the reform and opening up,thus,more than half a century’s difficult and long years have been completely integrated into his works until now.His works not only reflect the evolution history of Korean-Chinese contemporary literature,but also the show the political and social characteristics of Korean—Chinese and their subjective consciousness.His poetry is full of native colors and ethnic characteristics,revealing diasporic consciousness.Therefore,studying Li Xiangjue and his works play an important role in understanding the evolution of Korean-Chinese poetry and looking forward to the development of Korean-Chinese poetry.
