The Lingnan School of Painting, represented by “two Gaos and one Chen”,is an important painting school in the 20 th century in China with a major influence.Under the call of their painting innovation ideology “compromising Chinese and Western, blending ancient and modern”,through the dissemination of artistic thoughts and teaching guidance,a large number of Guangdong artists have made attempts to innovate in painting. These artists have made the Lingnan Painting School form a more rigorous lineage. After a hundred years of inheritance and dissemination,Lingnan School of Painting has formed a relatively universal cultural consensus around Guangdong and its surrounding areas.Due to the changes of the times and the advancement of social culture, and also the increasing number of its painters,Lingnan School has gradually been expanding outwards with Guangdong as the center, virtually forming a peripheral area of the Lingnan School of painting. The expansion of the School in time and space has brought a change in the School's style. This change has been shown on both the time axis and the space axis. The cultural factors that determine the change of painting style include the cultural differences between regions, the integration and development of Chinese and Western cultures, the development of the school itself and the historical context of development. These cultural factors determine the style changes in the development of the School.Huang Dufeng in Guangxi,Zhao Shaoang in Hong Kong,Yang Shanshen, and Ou Haonian in Taiwan, are representatives of the Lingnan School painters in and outside Guangdong. They do not live in the center of Lingnan School but outside Guangdong for a long time. The formation of their painting style is bound to be combined with regional culture.Their inheritance and development of Chinese painting also have different important characteristics from the central region.Through the comparative study of their painting styles, the problems behind the diversification of their artistic styles are analyzed. This thesis takes the flower and bird paintings of Huang Dufeng,Zhao Shaoang,Yang Shanshen,Ou Haonian as the main objects of study and studies the regional achievements and styles of the Chinese paintings by Lingnan School painters outside Guangdong, through which the style differences of their Chinese paintings are exposed. And the works of flowers and birds are mainly used as references, the features of their painting styles and the personal ethos based on flower and bird paintings. Moreover, the commonalities and diversity features of their painting styles are expounded. The style of the painting school is a manifestation of the commonness of many painters' styles. The cultural creation of artists is characterized by the formation of their own styles of painting. Thus painters have to break away from the limitations of the school's inherent ideas and formal styles,to create a difference from other people's styles of painting. This makes the diversification of personal style an inevitable phenomenon.Between the school of painting and the painter, the relations of dependence and deviation in painting styles come into being. It can be seen from the diversification of the personal styles of the painters outside Guangdong that the influence of the schoolwill gradually weaken, which will lead to the crisis of the school's status and the fuzziness of the heir's identity. At the same time, the style diversification is partly due to the geographical transformation of the aesthetic objects and aesthetic context of Chinese painting. With the change of aesthetic objects from the bureaucrat class to civilians, study and secularization have become the two paths for the aesthetic context. It is hereby found that the traditional evaluation system has some kind of loss in the ex-Guangdong painters, and the artist's individual choice of the current multiculturalism and return to the traditional spirit will become a cultural trend. For these issues,we can get a basic cultural judgment from the comparative study of the school's styles.
