The development of China's contemporary artwork market has been guided and driven by the secondary market form since the auction of art works emerged. As the core format of primary market, the development of gallery industry has always been far inferior to the auction industry,in the aspects of market share, ability of aggregating resources and brand influence.Meanwhile, the imperfect market structure of primary market has been causing losses as the prices of the secondary market are usually much lower. In such a situation,Qingzhou of Shandong Province has gradually evolved into a model focusing on gallery industry and has achieved development effect. This model is expected to be replicable and has precious value.Qingzhou,a city under the jurisdiction of Weifang City of Shandong Province, has gradually developed into a regional market where nearly one thousand of painting and calligraphy institutions have rooted in over the 30 years since the reform and opening up.It has become China's crucial distribution center of artworks as well as a benchmark thanks to its active market and close connection with the markets nationwide.Though it has a relatively low administrative level,Qingzhou has created significant influence in China's contemporary art industry. The Qingzhou Model is a summary and refining of the development characteristics of Qingzhou's art industry and market. It can also be defined as a unique regional art industry development model which has a long period of evolution driven by market requirements. The key points of Qingzhou Model are reflected in two aspects:first, based on the gallery industry, the co-development model with multi-industry factors is formed. The gallery industry as the core for development has driven related industries including art real estate, art finance, art exhibition, and art training to evolve, presenting a state of systematic development;second,it is the dominant model of interaction and collaboration between government departments and civil society. From the perspectives of artwork market study, this paper takes Qingzhou's regional artwork market and industrial ecology as a special study case under China's contemporary artwork market development and research system which was conducted in the manner of dissecting a sparrow. It has been attempting to present optimization suggestions for the contemporary art industry's development based on full demonstration of this special case.Considering the cultural industry has attached our nation' s high importance and we hope this paper can contribute to the cultivation of similar regional artwork industry, and the development of China' s art industry, especially to the formulation of tailored administrative and supportive policies and design of scientific guiding strategy.Regarding to the research ideas and content, this paper first gave an in-depth study on Qingzhou's industrial ecology from perspectives of "the regional art market development" and "regional art industry system".On this basis,it refined, interpret and demonstrate the Qingzhou Model-Qingzhou's local art market and art.industry development characteristics, with in-depth study on connotation characteristics and market performance, its formulation mechanism, and development reasons.Furthermore,it further discussed the relations between China' s art industry development and different regional cultural tradition, and issues such as possibilities of regional art industry development and its development approaches. This paper attempted to combine quantitative and qualitative methods, which focused more on qualitative approach from the perspective of sociology and history and related methods. This is based on the consideration-Qingzhou's art market is a primary market concentrating on gallery industry where market data including financial data and tax information is extremely opaque, and all data can be roughly defined as gaining profits or making losses, and the real financial data is only held by the legal person.
