The paper aims at comprehensively analyzing and studying the Gugian unearthed the ruins of the Weiyang Palace in the Changan City,Western Han Dynasty of ancient China,from the point of view of calligraphy.The First Chapter introduces the previous research on Guqian in terms of nature,contents,timing and naming.Chapter 2 analyzes the lining and structuring characteristics,thus the artistic meanings and values of Guqian calligraphy.Based on the lining characteristics of Guqian calligraphy,the next chapter explores the relationships of 'carving' and 'writing'.The Fourth Chapter categorizes Guqian calligraphy from the perspective of structuring by emphasizing the various styles of Guqian calligraphy so as to connect with the artistic spirits of Western Han Dynasty.The final part concludes the inspiration and values of the disclosure of the ancient Chinese Guqian calligraphy,and raises a number of issues related to the further study of Guqian calligraphy.
