This paper analyses and studies Shanghai female image in the "Seventeen Years"Chinese films to find that in the context of Chinese film system colluding with the state will,a part of Shanghai women,which are not in line with the mainstream ideology,become reformed subjects in the film,most Shanghai women are incorporated into the mainstream ideology as the new socialist man.The film screens of the "Seventeen Years" showed a diversified image of Shanghai women.The image of Shanghai women is particularly distinctive under the paradigm of " Workers,Peasants and Soldiers".They have a dual feature of modern and revolutionary,this unified screen image is the inheritance of Shanghai women's image in 1930s,it is also an unconscious call for female consciousness in Chinese films after this.This paper will discuss the distinctive screen image of Shanghai women from three aspects of urban space,time cognition and gender narration.After the Liberation Army entered Shanghai,they took over and reformed the urban space as well as constructed a duality narrative discourse of "city and country".Shanghai was regarded as "a city of sin",so Shanghai women had a self-identity crisis.Some progressed Shanghai women must obey the party's call to leave "the city of sin" so that they could construct a new subjective identity in a wider space.During the "Seventeen Years",the emphasis of national policies on the construction of urban industrialization led to some functions of the family were replaced by the functions of the factory.A space imagination of "factory is home,home is factory"was set up in workers.The strong extrusion and infiltration of public space to private space will inevitably trigger the renovation of Shanghai women's family concept.The traditional family ethic of "Husband Guides Wife" was challenged.Women got out of the family from the space and strengthened their family from the concept.The time narration of the "Seventeen Years" films is often obsessed with the division of historical periods,or indicates the advance of linear time with key time points.New China constructs a national community with a common social memory through Shanghai women's recollection of the old society.The new regime also needs to repeat the superiority of the socialist system and the correctness and legality of the Chinese Communist Party's leadership through the contrast of the new society and the old society.The time narration of films in this period also shows a fascination of youth narration and uses spare time and future time to discipline and motivate each subject to actively participate in the socialist production and construction.Finally,from the perspective of gender narration,this paper discusses the narrative mechanism of Shanghai women as the main body in the films.First of all,Shanghai women are placed in the triple relationships of father and daughter,husband and wife,and lovers to discuss the gender order of Shanghai women in the "Seventeen Years"films.The second is the body narration of Shanghai women.The female body in the sports showed in the films expresses the country's expectation of a healthy and beautiful female body and it also satisfies men's desire for sexy women's bodies.The films portrayed the sacred Shanghai female body through two ways:the virgin bodies of Shanghai girls and inhibition about the expression of sexual life between husband and wife and assigned the only sexual expression to female spies,they played a complementary and balanced role in the distribution of sex and moral resources in films.Third,suitcase and its internal items as the physical manifestation of Shanghai women's bodies.They become important ideographic elements to shape the Shanghai female image in films.To some extent,the suitcase and its internal items,as substitutes for Shanghai women's bodies,satisfy the male's peeping desire.At the same time,the films also carry out ideological coding for the items in the suitcase so as to shape the screen image of Shanghai female petty bourgeois intellectuals.
