Lv liuliang was a famous neo-Confucianist in the Ming and Qing Dynasty.He adored Zhu Xi academically,and had made an important contribution for the recovery of Zhu Zi studies in early Qing Dynasty together with Zhang Lvxiang and Lu Longqi.Under the influence of a trend—Yangming's heart-mind theory declined and Cheng-Zhu neo-Confucianism revived in the Ming and Qing Dynasty,and an academic discipline to deepen practice,Lv Liulhane's thought showed a strong tendency of salvation.His thought was based on Zhu Xi's theory which was fully respected,and combined with the background of Dynasty alternation from Ming to Qing,Lv Liuliang proposed a new system that can solve social problems and carried active spirit.His effort was theoretical leap for Cheng-Zhu neo-Confucianism in early Qing dynasty.The fall of Ming Dynasty objectively brought up a group of adherents of Ming Dynasty.In this group,people stood their ground and swore never to bow to Qing's leader.As for Lv Liuliang,after giving up the scholar identic in middle age,his consciousness of adherent has been totally awakened.In his academic career.Lv Liuliang kept his stipulations of adherent agreement at all times,and integrated his real-life experience into his interpretations of neo-Confucianism theories.Through these efforts.Lv Liuliang's thought reflected vivid national spirit.At the individual level.Lv Liuliang held the point that.scholars should make proper choice between right and wrong.loss and gain before they start saint learning.At the social level,Lv Liuliang attached great importance to the discrimination between righteousness and benefits.In addition,he made a fierce rebuttal to the new view which stressed fusion of benefits despite its popularity in the Ming and Qing Dynasty.At the national level,Lv Liuliang held the banner of "the difference between Chinese and barbarian".In the face of political upheaval and national policy of high pressure,he always insisted that nation's sense of honor interests higher than Monarch-Subject Relationship without any fear.The innovation and practicability throughout his meaning interpretation provide solid guarantee for his efforts to the recovery of Cheng-Zhu neo-Confucianism.What it does do.admirably,is that Lv Liuliang insisted eight-legged essay can bring back the light for Confucianism.Regardless of others' contempt and ridicule,he infused nation's sense of honor,the theory of advocating justice but depreciating benefits,and the awareness of making the risht choice between risht and wrong bv the way of making comments for eight-legged essays.Furthermore,these efforts had twisted exaggerating style of study in Last Year of Ming Dynasty,which led to degeneration of Cheng-Zhu neo-Confucianism,and had created the conditions for the recovery of Zhu Zi philosophy in early Qing Dynasty.Itw as a unique and lonely force in the case of Cheng-Zhu neo-Confucianism and Lu-Wang neo-Confucianism integrated with each other in the Ming and Qing Dynasty.In conclusion,to those people who were the members of adherents of Ming Dynasty in early Qing dynasty,reflecting the end of Ming Dynasty and bringing back the light for Confucianism were two sides of one coin.This was a historic mission for them which was given by the age.Lv Liuliang was no exception,in order to grasp his theories' value and meaning.the end of Ming Dynasty and adherents' mentality were two essentials and most important considerations.His adherents' mentality and Cheng-Zhu academic position had helped him created his own Confucian Ideology which embodied distinctive characteristics of the time and pragmatism.As well as setting a good example for current issues about how to combine Chinese classical academic to modern society properly.
