A Special Study On The Poets' Gatherings In The Qing Dynasty

Poets' gatherings in ancient China has enjoyed a profound history and has known as a prevailing and featured literary phenomenon.Poets' assemblies in Qing Dynasty are taken in various forms with wide coverage.The scale and frequency of these assemblies have greatly exceeded the preceding dynasty and turned into an integral part of intellectual group from different stratums.Taken the poets' gatherings in Qing Dynasty as the research subject,this paper,based on document resources on Qing Dynasty's politics,history,geography,literature,has made the adequate comprehension of the texts.Through applying discipline-crossing to combine the systematic study with case study,this paper conducted a comprehensive and designated illustration on poets' gatherings in Qing Dynasty.It attempted to break the traditional description of the historical facts and text interpretation models;placed poets in the overwhelm background and dynamic process of the historical development of Qing Dynasty;revealed basic features and inherent laws of this special literature phenomenon;correct some mistakes in previous studies.On the basis of general investigation and thematic extension,this paper,from macrocosmic to microcosmic,from the point to the surface,thoroughly explored characteristics,functions and influences of poets" gatherings in Qing Dynasty.This paper is divided into five chapters,focusing on:Firstly,basic features of poets' gatherings in Qing Dynasty.Poets' assemblies have tended to be mature in the Qing Dynasty.The basic paradigm has been shaped,which on the whole,presented normalized and civilized features.In chapter one and two,based on introducing and organizing the development of poets' assemblies,revolutions and few features of poets' gatherings in the Qing Dynasty were summarized considering thematic form and ideological content.Poets' assemblies in Qing Dynasty have gained new progress in thematic expansion and item innovation.The widespread of worship assemblies at forefathers,birthdays,inscription appreciation assemblies and opera seeing assemblies indicated the humanistic environment and the general mood of society of the Qing Dynasty.Festival gatherings and seasonal gatherings have become the inseparable part of the folk culture of the Qing Dynasty,which could reflect poets' delight of life and aesthetic tastes.Poets'assemblies in Qing Dynasty presented new characteristics in ideological contents.In other words,language expression is featured with sense and sensibility.Creative psychology is in accord with the demands of recognition and belonging.Ideological expounding is engraved with the depth of reality.Secondly,the study of poets' gatherings in Qing Dynasty and controversy on poems of the Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty.Running through the passage,the controversy on poems of the Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty overwhelmingly and profoundly influenced poets' theoretical construction and creative writing.Controversy on poems of the Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty exerted critical importance on poets' assemblies.In the meanwhile,poets' assemblies play a key role in the controversy on poems of the Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty.In chapter three following the time sequence while focusing on critical poetical theorists and poets'assemblies,the impact of poetic admiration on poets' assemblies,influences of poets'assemblies on poetic trend,the interrelations between poets' assemblies and poem controversies were analyzed and discussed.Many poets in Qing Dynasty would involve in the controversy on poems of the Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty.For example,many reputed poets would claim and practice their poetic endeavors in the assemblies,hoping to expand the influence and impact the poetic trend.Some poetic schools would take advantage of the assemblies to advocate their beliefs and seek individuals with the same pursuits,hoping to expand their influences.This is the junction of poets' gatherings in Qing Dynasty and poetic study,the research result of which would cast enlightenment on both of these two aspects.Thirdly,the study of poets' gatherings in the Qing Dynasty and the psychology of the remnants from a former dynasty.Beginning from the poets' assemblies,this paper studied remnants from Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty,which was not only an investigation of the collective creation in the traditional literature space,but also an exploration of the collective psychology in the old-fashioned social interaction models.Differentiated features presented in different time periods were particularly discussed.Poets' assemblies,an exceptional literature space generated at the conjuncture of the old and the new,served as the shelter for the old ideology and the cradle of the new thought.In general,poets' assemblies relieved remnants' sense of loss and offered them a sense of belonging.They could realize their value demands and satisfy their multi-dimensional psychological needs.Strong self-consciousness and critical consciousness of the remnants inject passions in their works,which in the meanwhile,encouraged them to launch more assemblies and to build a unified front for their ideology and behavior.Fourthly,the study of poets' assemblies in Qing Dynasty and Sino-Japanese diplomacy.Chapter five mainly investigated poets' assemblies of He Ruzhang,Li Shuchang,ambassador of the late Qing Dynasty in Japan.Considering contemporary Sino-Japanese relations,political intentions,cultural psychology,creative styles and ideological contents of the assemblies were studied.Under their leadership,poets'gatherings,as a diplomatic approach exerted positive influence on the contemporary Sino-Japanese relations."Ambassador Assemblies" merged political intentions into lyrics and rhythms and successfully established political friendship with the aid of literature communication.With the affective bridge that built in the procedure of the poem creating and corresponding,mutual respect and understanding were achieved correspondingly."Ambassador Assemblies" also had imperceptibly influences,in other words,realizing cultural assimilation and conquering by culture exportation.As the new type of assemblies during the particular era,"ambassador assemblies" took a critical place in poets' assemblies in Qing Dynasty and the history of poetry development.
