Anthology Of Qing Poetry By Qing Poets In The Context Of Poetics Of Qing Dynasty

Anthology of Qing poetry by Qing poets is not only one category of selected poetry, but a unique example of poetic criticism. As for the selection of poetry, it is closely related with constructing history of Qing poetry and the alternate of poetics trend. Therefore, this dissertation is, on the basis of expounding the development of anthology of Qing poetry by Qing poets, to study the relation of Qing Poetry by anthology of Qing Poets and poetics of Qing dynasty so as to explore its function of criticism, try to locate its status and find out its literary value. It consists of six sections:In Introduction, I don't only demonstrate the critical quality of anthology of Qing Poetry by Qing Poets, but also inquire the research on this subject as well as define some related concepts. In Chapter one, I describe the development of anthology of Qing poetry, respectively introduce the periodization and their characteristics of each period. At the same time, I comprehensively analyze the way of their slection, the style of their compilation and the motivation of their print; I hold it is because of the influence of politics, the promotion of criticism and composition of poetry and the rise of collectors that the Qing Poetry Selections became prosperous.From Chapter two to chapter five, I choose several important categories from poetics of Qing Dynasty, fully illustrate their function they play in criticism. In chapter two, I mainly explore the role that Qing Poetry Selections play in constructing history of Qing's poetry. Some of the anthologies of Qing Poetry not only clearly reflect the consciousness of constructing history of literature, but also participate the construction of it. Besides, they played quite important function in canonizing the writers. In chapter three, I focalize the function of anthology of Qing Poetry in the two trends of poetics (one advocates poetry of Tang Dynasty, the other that of Song Dynasty). I hold that these selections are not only the media of promoting the two trends, but also the carriers of this debate; and that the viewpoint of these two trends could compromise in these anthologies.In chapter four, I mainly expound how the poetic discourse of authority reflected and penetrated into the Collections by Emperors and the Collections of Examination Poetry. I hold that the former are the carriers of the poetic discourse of authority, while the latter are the result of that authority's poetic discourse penetrated into the anthologies. In chapter five, I examined the role the collections of different regions and the collections of poetry by woman poets played in constructing their own poetics. These two kinds of collections had become prosperous. Especially, the collections of different regions had not only contributed to the formation of regional characteristics of poetry, but expressed their appeal to constructing regional poetics by supporting and alienating from the poetics of mainstream; accordingly, the collections of poetry by woman poets are the expression of feminist poetics.
