As the Nobel Laureate of the 2013 Nobel Prize for Literature,Alice Munro(1931—)is not only the first Canadian writer to win this prize, but also the first in the history of Nobel Literature to win an award for short story writing.Munro's oeuvre demonstrates the infinite charm of Canadian literature and short story, which has always been on the edge of mainstream literature. As early as the 1970s,Western scholars have begun academic research on Munro's work, and Chinese scholars' research has also gradually increased in recent years.Domestic researches mainly focus on issues such as "feminism" and "narrative techniques",but there is not much research on the writer's deep consciousness and the hidden factors in the creation process.Researches on the implicit connotation under explicit text are relatively few.Based on the research at home and abroad, this dissertation takes her writing mentality as the starting point, and combines theories of literary geography, literary psychology,post-feminism,and aesthetics of reception to analyze the image paradigm, psychodynamics, metaphors, aesthetic representations and cultural factors in Munro's work. Each literary work is a manifestation of the author's "voice".What kind of creative psychology made the author choose the form of short stories, and what kind of creative psychology determines what, why and for whom the author writes? This dissertation is to study the various complex factors and interactions that influence Munro's creation, that is,those that are not easy to detect in Munro's creative process, difficult to see from the surface of the text. The first part of the dissertation is an introduction.First of all,it is to explain the basic concepts such as mechanism, and then to trace the seemingly ordinary life of Munro and the creative process. Then comes the literature review, and gradually it leads to the core of this dissertation. The second part is the main body of the dissertation, which is mainly divided into five parts. From text analysis to psychological tracking, internal research to external research, vertical exploration to horizontal research,in turn,it analyzes the psychological mechanism, image mechanism, metaphor mechanism, aesthetic mechanism and cultural inheritance mechanism of Munro's creation. The first chapter analyzes the writer's unique psychological characteristics from the aspects of individual psychological characteristics.Munro's childhood experience and marriage life and others formed the unique psychological mechanism, which affected the setting of characters in Munro's work, the connotation of various images, and her exploring of the inner world of characters. Therefore, the second chapter of the dissertation discusses the image orientation of Munro's work.Munro refused to blame all kinds of conflicts between men and women, but her open and inclusive view of gender can better grasp the reader's heart, which is different from the traditional feminist gender view. The unique life experience, cultural cognition and aesthetic sensibility allowed Munro to use simple literary language and various rhetoric methods to give ordinary things a rich cultural connotation. It is through these ordinary images in daily life that Munro explores the complexity of human nature and conveys her own perceptions, which inspires people deeply. This is the content of the third chapter.Chapters 4 and 5 interpret the aesthetic style of Munro's work from the perspective of reader's response and factors other than text.Munro's work delicately records the mental growth of the protagonist's epiphany, and uses "trivialization" and"fragmentation" as the medium to pass the writer's inner activities and ideological trajectories to the readers, which resonates with the readers. The fifth chapter focuses on the relationship between Munro as a writer and the surrounding environment and the influence of external culture. Each writer has his own unique personality. It is her personality that determines that she can have different "chemical reactions" when facing the same social context, cultural heritage and various external influences. The conclusion part further analyzes the relationship between Munro's achievement and her unique psychological characteristics.Family background, religious background, marital experience, gender identity, and cultural influences all have effects 'on a writer's theme and methods, but the effects on each writer are very different.Literary creation is a very complicated process that includes the writer's needs, desires, feelings, intuitions, emotions, and imagination. As a writer who understands the human mind well,Munro has a deep understanding and keen perception of nature, people and the world. It is this unique psychology that guided Munro to abandon grand narratives but focus on ordinary descriptions, which made her works seem usual but extraordinary, and achieved a new breakthrough in aesthetics of fiction.
