Research On The Ethical Turn Of Technical Artifacts Design

Technical artifacts are existences that being generated through technical practical activities.The concept was initially created by Randall Dipert in 1993,following up Dutch technical philosophers Peter Kroes and Anthonie Meijers around 1998,it grew into a mature research pattern.Among the field of technical artifacts,academia tends to discuss he complex relationship between value and responsibility,and multiple ethical governance emerge,and if there is an urgent need to systematically explore the ethical shift in the design of technical artifacts.This research,based on previous research,aims to explore the philosophical foundation behind the technical ethical design turn,the "law of things" design method,and the technological governance path through the reduction method of technical phenomenology,induction,and deduction.The specific research content is mainly carried out from the following aspects:First,it discusses the research background and research significance of technical artifacts and reviews the relevant literature on the ethical shift of technical artifact design,and proposes research design ideas,technical routes,and innovations.Second,to define the etymology,connotation and extension of the relevant concepts of the design ethics of technical artifacts,based on Ihde's "person-technology"relationship theory,Latour's "artificial society" thought and Verbeek's "materializing morality ",the idea of the theoretical basis,and on this basis,the next step of in-depth exploration is carried out.Third,in Latour's idea of "artificial society",from the historical materialism's"humanism" of technical artifacts,the "non-human" new materialism,the expansion of"non-human",three At the stage of investigation,it systematically demonstrated how the development process of technical artifacts from "human" to "non-human" in the"decentralization" scenario.At the same time,it is interpreted in conjunction with the specific case of "decentralization" of shared bicycles.Fourth,on the basis of Verbeek's "materializing morality",we systematically discusses the effects of technical intentionality,moral freedom and moral intermediary.Through the process,we believe that the technical degree of technical artifacts determines the degree of moral materialization.A case study of smart wearable clothing is being added in conjunction of the interpretation.Fifth,based on the above research foundation,through the designer's moral sensitivity capture and recognition,emotional projection and empathy,creative imagination and transcendence,this research take usage of bionic design scenario simulation,virtual and reality scenario simulation,and design value emotional simulation;combined with mandatory adjustment design,decoy adjustment design and persuasive adjustment design to explore the "constraints of things" approach of technical artifact design.At the same time,this research takes the babysitter robot as an example to interprets the design of the "constraints of things" in the specific practical context.Sixth,by subdividing the responsibilities and values of the design ethics of technical artifacts,this research will conduct accountability and constructive technical assessments of technical actors,social actors and meta-level actors.Combining public participation,sharing and fair cooperation of social contracts to regulate feedback and ultimately through the technology internal relationship path,hybrid system path and value-sensitive design path to carry out different levels of technical design and governance.At the same time,this chapter will reflect on the case of gene-edited babies as an interpretation of the specific problems.Finally,the research takes on the ethical shift of technical artifact design is to cut in from the path of the internal relationship of technology,and to explore the whole process of technical design ethics from the perspective of "Material criterion".This research proposed a "design is governance" technology governance method,using the"advanced" design method of ethical technology to "write" the "good" technical function and physical structure into the technical artifacts,in order to look forward to the adoption the "constraints of things" design method of artificial objects contributes to the construction of a better world of human life.
