Archaeological Research On Liao,Jin And Yuan Dynasty City Sites In Northeastern China

The research object of this paper is city sites of Liao,Jin and Yuan Dynasties in northeast China.The full text is divided into the following ten chapters:The first chapter is Preface,which defines research objects of this paper,looks back previous archaeological discoveries and related researches,indicates problems existing in previous work and researches,so as to put forward research purposes and research methods of this paper.The second chapter is to distinguish the ceramic remains unearthed in city sites by stages.Mainly with methods of ceramic archaeology,through numerous investigations of city sites,find out the combined appearance of ceramic remains in Liao,Jin and Yuan dynasties in centering on city sites,then take the results as foundation for dating of city sites.The third,fourth and fifth chapters are the main body of this paper,which introduce systematically the basic situation of city sites in Heilongjiang,Jilin and Liaoning regions,based on previous investigation and excavation materials,combined with author's new investigations of more than 70 city sites with updates of the data of perimeter,structure and plane shape ect.of these city sites on a large scope,re-examination of the relics unearthed and collected from the city sites and re-dating of some city sites.The sixth chapter discusses overall distribution of all city sites,locations and the distribution in each period.Firstly,perform density analysis on overall distribution of city sites with these city sites being divided into 18 site groups,one-by-one discussion on the formation process of each site group,and analysis on the location and orientation of city sites.lt also discusses formation process of site groups of Liao dynasty,problems of eastern boundary of Liao,and the distribution of city sites and relics in Yuan dynasty.The seventh chapter is to explore the scale and plane form of city sites.On the basis of statistical analysis of perimeter data of more than 600 city sites,it discusses the relationship among scales,administrative levels and eras of city sites,and then makes a typological research on the plane form of city sites,so as to make statistics and analysis on the proportion of various types in city sites of different scales.Popular times and regions of different plane types are also discussed.The eighth chapter is to research the structure and layout of city sites.It pays more attentions on construction technology,plane form,layout rules,grade scale and other issues of the facilities such as the city gate,barbican,city wall,moat,horse face embattlement,comer terrace and road ect.With methods of regional systematic investigation,it makes a macro discussion on the layout of city sites,reveals layout characteristics of styles of cross street and open street,discusses the distribution of various kinds of building sites and handicraft relics in city sites,and also discusses changing law and motivation of rise and fall of city sites.The ninth chapter is a textual research on historical and geographical issues of relevant cities.It mainly carries out new textual researches on Xinzhou in Liao Dynasty.Huanglong Prefecture in late Liao Dynasty,Huanglong Prefecture in early Liao Dynasty,Yichun and Qujiang counties in Jin Dynasty and Zhaozhou in Yuan Dynasty.These textual researches make great changes to the historical and geographical layout of Liao,Jin and Yuan Dynasties in Songnen Plain.The tenth chapter is the conclusion,with summarizing gains and deficiency of this paper.
