Research On Zheng Luo

This paper takes Zheng Luo,a great official in the northern Ming Dynasty,as the research core,and makes an in-depth analysis of his family background and personal life,especially his official career and political activities,in order to make an objective and comprehensive understanding of Zheng Luo,and highlight his outstanding contribution to maintaining the relationship between Ming Dynasty and Mongolia.The paper is divided into three parts.The first part briefly narrates Zheng Luo's life,ancestors,works,official career,personal life and so on.In particular,through the use of various historical materials,it is verified that the exact date of birth and death of Zheng Luo was from November25,1530 to January 8,1601.The second part describes the political achievements of when he governed Shanxi,Datong and Xuanfu.He strongly supported Wang Chonggu and promoted the peace negotiations between the Ming Dynasty and the Mongols.After the peace between the Mongols and Ming Dynasty,he consolidated the border defense,formulated laws and rules for Mongolian exchanges,punished the illegalacts,adjusted contradictions,restrained the unreasonable demands of the Mongols,and twice succeeded in sealing the King of Shunyi.During his almost twenty years career as a border guard,he not only actively promoted the reconciliation of Ming and Mongolia,but also made every effort to maintain a healthy and orderly relationship between them.The third part is his actions to resolve the crisis when the relationship between the Ming and the Mongolia in Qinghai area was severe very much.At that time,a large number of the right-wing Mongols massed in Qinghai area,held local Fan ethnic groups,attacked the Ming frontier,the relationship between Ming and Mongolia appeared serious.Zheng Luo,with his rich experience in dealing with the relationship between Ming and Mongolia,and a stable work style,was commissioned to save the crisis.He took a series of measures,such as cutting off roads,preventing right-wing Mongolia from entering Qinghai,driving the leaders who had entered Qinghai to return to the east,recruiting the local Fan ethnic groups,breaking up the Fan-Mongolian alliance,burning the Mongolian stronghold of Yanghua Temple in Qinghai,and cracking down on the Mongolian tribes who had been in Qinghai for a long time.Zheng Luo acted decisively,effectively,successfully alleviated the crisis,so that the friendship between Ming and Mongolia can continue.At the end of this paper,Zheng Luo's strategy of governing the border is summarized.It is believed that Zheng Luo's strategy forMongolia was to strictly enforce the rules of the Ming-Mongolian relationship,and to "combine appeasement and suppression,focusing on the appeasement" in the event of a crisis.This was a wise move he took based on the analysis of the specific situation of the Ming Dynasty and Mongolia,and thus achieved great results,making him an important historical figure worthy of future generations.
