This study,with the research subjects of 1,200 non-English major Mongolian college students from six higher institutions of Inner Mongolia University,Inner Mongolia Normal University,Inner Mongolia Agricultural University,Xing An Vocational & Technical College,Ordos Institute of Technology and Hetao College,is based on the theoretical framework of quantitative and qualitative methods as well as the combination of third language acquisition,contrastive analysis and error analysis theory to conduct a survey on the current situation of Mongolian college students' English language acquisition.Meanwhile,this study aims to find out the cross-linguistic influence on Mongolian college students' acquisition of English present perfect aspect,to summarize the errors so as to illustrate the positive and negative transfer from the Mongolian and Chinese bilingual languages and to prove the cross-linguistic interactions among Mongolian,Chinese and English as well as the fact that how the bilingual language level of Mongolian college students affects their third language acquisition by means of the correlation analysis and variance analysis in SPSS software.This dissertation also carries out the empirical study from the perspective of teaching practice to investigate the use of classroom media language in Mongolian college students' English learning as well as the attitudes of teachers and students toward the use of classroom media language to verify the role and value of mother tongue in the foreign language acquisition.This research consists of seven parts: the introduction,the first chapter,the second chapter,the third chapter,the fourth chapter,the fifth chapter and theIn the introduction,the rationale for the research,the research purpose and significance,the research questions,the materials and methods and the innovation points are proposed.The first chapter introduces the literature review of the third language acquisition at home and abroad,the foreign language acquisition and teaching in bilingual background and the linguistic theories related to this research.The second chapter briefly discusses the grammar manifestation of the tense and aspect in Mongolian,Chinese and English.Third chapter firstly analyzes the current situation of Mongolian college students' English acquisition in bilingual background.Secondly,this part examines the acquisition of English present perfect aspect of the Mongolian college students by data collection.Finally,it summarizes the types of errors made by the students.The fourth chapter shows the influence of the mother tongue on Mongolian students' acquisition of English present perfect aspect.The fifth chapter mainly investigates the use of classroom media language of Mongolian college students in bilingual context and conducts experiments and questionnaires on the classroom media language to verify the role and value of students' mother tongue in their foreign language acquisition.In the conclusion section,the author summarizes the whole study,illustrates the achievements and shortcomings of the research and proposes the future research direction.
