A Study On Japanese Information Structure

After Mathesius introduced the concept of information structure into language analysis,Many scholars have studied the information structure of Japanese,especially the topic operation,from different perspectives,and drew a lot of useful conclusions.However,due to the different theoretical background and different thinking patterns of scholars,their understanding of Japanese information structure is still quite different.From the standpoint of system theory,this thesis regards the Japanese information structure as an organic whole.Based on the analysis of the basic structure and function of the Japanese information structure system,this thesis studies the relationship between the Japanese information structure system and its elements,context,and the law of mutual transformation,and outlines the basic structure and transformation mechanism of sentence,compound sentence and discourse,which makes us have a more detailed understanding of the general situation of Japanese language information structure system.Secondly,the proportion of sentence level research results in the current research results of Japanese language information structure is relatively large,but there is less research on the motivation of topicalization and focalization in the information structure.This thesis discusses the motivation of the formation of Japanese topic sentences and focus sentences from the perspectives of "movement",and puts forward the explanation that the formation of theme and focus is "forward movement".Moreover,the fact of Japanese language shows us that the information structure of complex sentence and discourse language is not a simple superposition,but a new structure and composition principle.This thesis explains the basic structure of Japanese information structure of complex sentences and discourse,introduces the focus test system to build a program to analyze the language information structure of Japanese complex sentences,discusses the relationship between Japanese text information classification and interrogative sentences from the perspective of information transmission,and points out that the speaker's point of view is the center of research in the language information structure of Japanese text.This kind of problem is not involved in sentence research and complex sentence research,which provides a feasible way for the future research of Japanese discourse information structure.This thesis consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the literature review part,which analyzes the current situation of Japanese information structure research.Chapter two defines the information structure and the concepts of topic and focus,topicalization and focalization in the research of information structure.Chapter three mainly discuss topic and topicalization,focus and focalization of Japanese sentence level,and analyze the formation motivation of Japanese sentence information structure.Chapter four is the study of Japanese complex sentence information structure.On the basis of defining the research scope of complex sentences,this thesis mainly analyzes the information structure of conditional complex sentences and causal complex sentences.Chapter five is the study of information structure at the textual level.It mainly discuss the relationship between information classification and interrogative sentences from the perspective of information transmission,and also discuss the replaceability of "ha" and "ga" in narrative texts and leading sentence.
