Nationalism And Inter-travel Relations

After the Cold War,there was a new tide of nationalism in the global scope,which made a great impact on many areas in the world and had a profound influence on the process of world history.Under the impact of the wave of nationalism,the ethnic conflicts in many countries break out in succession,which posed the serious challenge to the unity of the multi-national countries,and became hot issues in the study on nationalism.Nowadays,the important problem which many multi-national countries are faced with is how to handle the ethnic relations correctly,and dissolve a variety of social tension due to the ethnic and cultural diversity,and guide the ethnic relations to the channel of benign interaction,and deal with the interests of the ethnic groups,and ensure the political space for the existence of difference between cultural values,and increase the inclusiveness and flexibility for multi-national countries,and thus create the harmonious ethnic relations.Therefore,it has important theoretical and practical significance for us to deal with ethnic relations through strengthening the study on the ethnic conflicts in the contemporary multi-national countries.This dissertation mainly consists of four sections as follows:Chapter I is mainly composed of two parts.The first part discusses the various favctors which results in the formation of ethnic problems in Kosovo.It is pointed out that the historical memories of the different ethnic groups are endowed with their own symbols,so that the complicated ethnic relations and ethnic conflicts in Kosovo can date from its ancient history.Under the domination of the great empires and dynasties found in the annals,and under the influence of combination of internal and external forces,national cultures in Kosovo blend and collide in this process.Thus,the members fostered a very strong and broad sense of community,namely,ethnic nationalism.The second part discusses the formation and the development of nationalist movement in Kosovo from the perspective of interaction of nationalism and state-building.Religious and secular works strengthened the national consciousness.In this process,the ultimate goal of national unification movement was to overthrow the rule of outsiders,and struggle for independence and unification.However,in the tide of the establishment of a unified nation-state,the tendency of big-nationality chauvinism was intertwined within it.The ethnic conflict in Kosovo was gradually formed.World was I gave birth to the establishment of the first Yugoslavia with a centralized unitary nation-state.But because the "Greater Serbia nationalism" hegemonic policy was imposed in the absolute monarchy of the Kingdom,the ethnic problems in Kosovo was increasingly intensified.During World War ?,in the support of the fascist,ethnic vendettas made the relationship worse further in Kosovo.In Chapter ?,by analyzing the development of ethnic conflicts in Kosovo during the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia,it is demonstrated that in the proces's of establishment of the multi-national country,nationalism was reflected in all aspects such as the politics,economy,culture,demography,etc.,and gave rise to the conflicts of interest between the ethnic groups,so it resulted in the weak capability of national integration and the feeble cohesion of the nation-state,and finally lost the legitimacy of its existence.Chapter ? focuses on internationalized Kosovo issue and Kosovo's independence after the Cold War.With the collapse of the Soviet Union,the disintegration of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia also occurred in the wave of the ethnic separatism.Characteristics of irrationality and violence of extreme nationalism,together with the interference of external forces,made the Kosovo issue gradually by a domestic political as an international crisis and eventually moved toward independence,which revealed the geostrategy of the West and the evolution of the international relations after the Cold War.In Chapter ?,by analyzing the ethnic problems in Kosovo,and combining with China's realities,it is available to explore the measures to correctly handle the ethnic problems in multi-national country and relationship between states,and take warning from this example for us.
