Research On The Problem Of Communication Alienation Under The Background Of Modernity

In his Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844,Marx elaborated the four stipulations of alienated labor,namely,the alienation of people with their own labor products,of people with their own labor,of people with their own kind essence,and of people with people.The foothold of alienated labor has touched on the problem of communication alienation.With human society entering the stage of modern society with capitalist mode of production as its core,the alienation phenomena revealed by Marx take the dependence on human beings as its manifestation,but its essence is that the alienation of human-to-human interaction is more common,which has become the essential drawback of contemporary capitalist society.The crisis of modernity is manifested in many aspects,but in the relationship between people,the deepest alienation is the alienation of communication.Therefore,modern western Marxists firmly believe that Marx's theory of alienation is not outdated,but more meaningful than ever before.It is also for this reason that the analysis and study of communication alienation has important practical significance for the development of Marxist theory.Communication is an activity of unity of subject and subject,of means and purpose,of norms and freedoms.The alienation of communication corresponds to the alienation of communication subject,means and norms.The alienation of communication not only does harm to people as individuals,but also leads to profound social and global crises.Communication alienation leads to one-sided development of human activities and abilities,loss of self-awareness and identity,distortion of personality,prevalence of utilitarianism and individualism,and moral decline.The alienation of communication results in the decrease of intimacy,stability and security of the community,leads to the crisis of social trust,affects the all-round development and progress of society,and tends to produce consumerism,materialism and nihilism.The spread of communication alienation in national society will also lead to conflicts and antagonism between countries,hinder the inheritance of civilization,endanger the future of human destiny community,and so on.There are many reasons leading to the alienation of communication,but the deepest root is the cover of capital logic to communication logic.Under the condition of modernity,communication logic is always combined with capital logic.While communication is pushed by capital to deepen and expand,it is also constantly being used and shaped by capital.Capital process and communication process are intertwined and integrated."Capital at this time" is the capital in general communication,and "communication at this time" is the communication within the scope of capital logic.Communication is originally the essence of human practice and creative activity,which reflects the free and equal interaction between people.However,under the overall control of capital logic,communication needs,ways and behaviors are all subordinate to the logic of capital proliferation,which is deeply covered by capital logic.Free communication has become an unreachable dream.In view of the human predicament in the course of the development of capitalist society,modern western Marxist scholars have deeply rethinked and criticized the problem of alienation of communication,and profoundly revealed the alienation of human beings in modern society.Moreover,on the basis of Marx's theory of alienation,they put forward ideas and countermeasures from different perspectives on how to abandon the problem of alienation of communication,which provides rich ideological resources for overcoming and abandoning alienation of communication.First,from the subjective dimension,through the criticism of alienation of personality structure,we can promote the reconstruction of the way of life.Second,from the media dimension,through the criticism of technological rationality to promote the formation of new rationality.Third,from the normative dimension,it puts forward the rationalization of communication and the reconstruction of historical materialism.Communication alienation is the product of capital logic,and the alienation stage of communication is the stage that we can not escape.China is experiencing a comprehensive social transformation,the vigorous development of the socialist market economy,the impact of global capital logic,communication alienation can not be ignored.Only by understanding the essence and operation rules of capital,learning to use and restrict capital,consciously controlling the logic of capital,consciously constructing reasonable communication relations,can alienated communication be transformed into free and conscious activities.It is undoubtedly of great significance for China in the process of modernization to strengthen the exploration of rationalization of communication,guide reasonably within the framework of communication subject,communication media and communication norms,and form equal,free and conscious communication practice.The main innovations of this paper are as follows: Firstly,this paper comprehensively expounds the concept,manifestations,negative effects,causes of communication alienation,and how to overcome the problems of communication alienation,and tries to conduct a comprehensive and overall study on the problem of communication alienation at the level of interweaving theory with reality.Secondly,it examines the problem of communication alienation in the context of modernity,elaborates on the deepening and highlighting of communication alienation in modern society,and clearly points out that capital logic is the main cause and profound cause of communication alienation.Thirdly,based on the specific context of China,it explores how to face up to the problem of communication alienation in contemporary Chinese society and how to construct the equal,sincere and friendly communication relationship between people,which has certain practical significance for the construction of harmonious social relations.
