College faculty-student relationship has been a classic topic in the studies of higher pedagogy,sociology and philosophy.It is of great significance to higher education,society and even life.However,it is widely questioned and criticized that there are so many problems in the college faculty-student relationship of China at present.Meanwhile,both society and higher education are under the vicissitudes of many factors,adding uncertainty to the development of college faculty-student relationship to a certain extent.In view of this,this study conducts a thorough analysis of the essence of college faculty-student relationship,and reveals the connotation of the relationship.The corresponding analytical models and measurement tools are established and developed.Afterwards,these models and tools will be applied to the investigation of college faculty-student relationship in China to obtain relevant data.Based on the relevant data,this study summarizes,induces and analyzes the characteristics and problems of the college faculty-student relationship in China,and puts forward the corresponding countermeasures,coupled with the future trend of the college faculty-student relationship in China.College faculty-student relationship is a higher education connection formed by the interaction between faculties and students based on knowledge,and it is the mutual influence and force between faculties and students.The essence of college faculty-student relationship is a kind of force,and the essential elements of generating this force include college teachers,college students,knowledge,intercourse,and none is indispensable.Compared with the general interpersonal relationship or the faculty-student relationship in general education,the college faculty-student relationship has five characteristics of education,independence,freedom,creativity and spirituality.It is necessary to study the college faculty-student relationship from the viewpoint of intercourse and knowledge.In line with the development trend from alienation to compactness of college teacher-student intercourse,and from authority to equal rights of knowledge activity,the college faculty-student relationship can be divided into four models.These four models respectively are the paternal relationship combined authoritative knowledge and close contact,the employment relationship between authoritative knowledge and alienated contact,contractual relationship between equal right knowledge and alienated contact,and the community relationship between equal right knowledge and close contact.At the same time,the sort order of the four modes is also the evolution trend and development law of college faculty-student relationship.Based on this,a questionnaire on undergraduate college faculty-student relationship(QCFSR)is developed and designed to investigate the current situation of college faculty-student relationship in China.The stratified sampling method was used to select 35 colleges and universities as investigating objects,with 11050 questionnaires taken back.Through statistical analysis,it has been found that the college faculty-student relationship in China is a contractual relationship at present.The main problems include the low learning initiative of students,the insufficient convenience of faculty-student intercourse,the poor intercourse initiative of faculties,the less help of faculty-student intercourse for students' non-academic growth and the memorization tend of examination contents.Of course,the college faculty-student relationship in our country also has some potential that cannot be ignored.For example,the faculties generally pay attention to students' experience in the teaching process,and college students have higher creative consciousness.Besides,the uncertain content forms of curriculum are more extensive.On the whole,the knowledge activity of faculties and students in our country is still in the primary stage of equal rights,while the intercourse is in the state of alienation.Further,the biggest problem of the knowledge activity of faculties and students in our country lies in the mere formality,but neglects the essence.In this case,college students become the lazy diligent persons,and the faculties become performers that focus on the formalization but neglect the details.And teachers and students play a fine performance together.As a result,the problem of knowledge activities between college faculties and students in China is more concealed and more complex.On the other hand,the institutional dilemma is the main cause of alienation between college faculties and students,including the absence of the system,the institutional bias and institutional idleness.This series of factors make the college faculty-student relationship in an environment of institutional vacuum From the deeper point of view,the reason of the current problem of college faculty-student relationship in China is that the logic of operation is out of order due to the collision between ethics and order.The problem also results from the confusion in rationality orientation caused by the division of the tool and value.Besides,the imbalance of development environment of faculty-student relationship generated by the gap between tradition and modern is also a key influencing factor.In the face of the future,popularization,informatization and lifelong development will have a profound impact on the development of college faculty-student relationship in China,which is an opportunity,but also is a challenge.Therefore,it is necessary to carry out prospective forecast analysis and prepare ahead of time.And the greatest influence of popularization on the college facuty-student relationship is to improve the status of the relationship,and therefore it is required that the relationship should play a greater value.The influence of informatization lies in reconstructing the knowledge activities of the college faculty-student relationship,empphasizing that some knowledge should no longer be taught by college faculties in the classroom.The most important influence of lifelong education on the relationship is to change the concept of college faculty-student relationship.People don't take the education background as the sole purpose of faculty-student intercourse,so that it is possible to realize the pure and simple college faculty-student relationship.In the face of these influences,our higher education should change the concept,perfect the system,strengthen the design,promote the reform,and construct the culture to welcome the arrival of the new college faculty-student relationship.
