The science-technology coupling gradually becomes one of the main characteristics of science-technology development in modern times,while the innovation associated with the sci-tech coupling becomes a major prerequisite for the long-term economic growth.However,the island phenomenon is still popular in modern scientific and technological researches,which reduces the promotion of science and technology to the economic growth.This situation triggers the problem of the relationship between the science-technology coupling and the economic growth.However,recent researches mainly focus on the impact of science and technology on the economic growth separately,while studies on the impact of their coupling on the economic growth remain less.This thesis devotes to the effect of science-technology coupling path on the economic growth.Basically,it concentrates on the following four questions.1)The definition,type,and forming mechanism of the science-technology coupling path.First,the science-technology coupling is viewed as an internal power of innovation,and the dynamic evolution process for the science-technology coupling system to achieve its innovative goal is defined to be the science-technology coupling path.Then,according to the coupling strength and the coupling cost rate,this path is divided into six types,i.e.,the scientized-strong path with low/high cost,the technologized-strong path with low/high cost,and the science-technology balanced path with low/high cost.Finally,the characteristics and the forming mechanism of the path divided by the coupling strength are analyzed.2)The evaluation of science-technology coupling path.First,so as to represent the coupling strength,a set of state space models is constructed.Thereupon the Gramian-based coupling-strength measuring method is used to solve these models.And then,according to the type of the coupling path and the coupling effect,the evaluating criterion of the coupling path divided by the coupling strength is conceived.Finally,the strength-divided coupling path in the science-technology coupling system of China is evaluated.Result shows that it is under the technologized-strong path in China,and the coupling effect is not good currently.3)The effect of the leading coupling path on the economic growth of China.First,the innovative service department is incorporated into the extended Romer endogenous growth model containing both scientific and technological research departments.Thus an endogenous economic growth model with five departments is obtained.Then,the balanced growth path analysis is done to this model,and three kinds of the relationship between the coupling path and the economic growth are obtained.Finally,these three kinds of the relationship are tested by the panel threshold model,and by taking the 29 provinces(excluding Tibet,Chongqing,Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan)of China as the research object.Results show that:a)The technologized-strong path with low cost can promote the economic growth of China in the short term;b)In the long term,the coupling path will turn from technologized-strong path with low cost to science-technology balanced path with low cost in China;c)The innovative service has significant influence on the promotion of the coupling path to the economic growth in China;d)The effect of the leading coupling path on the economic growth is different among regions in China.4)The optimal coupling path for promoting the economic growth of China.First,the human capital developing department is incorporated into the extended Romer endogenous growth model containing the innovative service department.Thus an endogenous growth model with six departments is obtained.And then,the balanced growth path analysis is done to this model,and three kinds of the relationship between the coupling path and the economic growth are obtained.Finally,these three kinds of the relationship are tested by taking China as a research object and America as a reference.Results show that:a)The technologized-strong path with low cost and the science-technology balanced path with low cost are conducive to the short-term and long-term economic growth,respectively;b)The effect of the coupling cost rate on the promotion of science and technology to the economic growth is different in the short term and the long term;c)The human capital ratio involved in the production can also affect the optimal coupling path divided by the coupling cost rate.Theoretically,this research enriches theories of the science-technology coupling and the economic growth.And from the practical viewpoint,it can be taken as references for realizing the science-technology management system with regional differentiation and for transforming the R&D management function of the government.Thus,it can promote the fusion of science,technology and the economic growth.
