With China's economic restructuring and industrial upgrading gradually progressing,China's manufacturing industry has been transitioning from producing low-end manufactured products to producing high-end products. At the present stage, with the further advancement of industrial upgrading,China's manufacturing industry is evolving towards high-end manufacturing.Whether a manufacturing enterprise, which is a core component of China's manufacturing industry, can produce high-end products that are recognized by the market and successfully enter the global high-end products market will determine the success or failure of China's manufacturing restructuring and upgrading. At present,Chinese manufacturers are facing a series of barriers to entry when they try to enter the global high-end product market.Different categories of barriers to entry have their own unique reasons of formation.Only by analyzing the deep reasons for different barriers to entry faced by Chinese manufacturers and by finding the effective way to breakthroughs the barriers, will China's manufacturing will truly upgrades to high-end manufacturing.Nowadays,China's manufacturing industry has gradually got rid of the development model of past OEM and imitation.A technology introduction and independent innovation development model is gradually being formed. Many enterprises with global influence have also been born in the industry.Historically, the most successful countries in the manufacturing sector to achieve technological catch-up and transcendence are Japan and South Korea.Studying the historical experience of Japan and South Korea, summing up the experience of China's enterprises that successfully entered into the global high-end product market, finding a path that can be promoted to the whole industry,is of great significance to the upgrading of China's manufacturing industry to high-end manufacturing.Research on barriers to entry began in the United States, and research on barriers to entry in China started late and was less studied. This paper sorts out the theoretical development of barriers to entry in a chronological order.Through theoretical combing, this paper intends to cover as many possible barriers to entry as possible and possible breakthrough paths,in order to make theoretical accumulation for finding a way to break through the barriers to entry of Chinese enterprises in the global high-end products market.China's reform and opening up has been lasting for forty years, manufacturing industry has always been an important driving force for China's economic rise, recognizing the status quo of China's manufacturing industry would help us to analyze the real causes of Chinese companies facing barriers to entry in the high-end products market. At a time when the world's major manufacturing powers set off the fourth industrial revolution and China's domestic labor cost advantage has gradually lost, the upgrading of China's manufacturing industry to high-end manufacturing has shown its inevitability.Through analyzing the development status of China's major manufacturing industries in the two industries with the highest output value in the global manufacturing industry, such as the automobile manufacturing industry and the ICT industry, this paper concludes that the development status of China's manufacturing industry is: big and strong, but not the strongest in the world, there are still short boards in some areas. When China's large number of manufacturing enterprises enter the global high-end products market, they face various barriers to entry. The core of this paper is to find the deep reasons for the barriers to entry faced by Chinese enterprises and to give path suggestions. Therefore,it is of great significance to analyze the different types barriers to entry faced by Chinese manufacturing enterprises.According to the types of barriers to entry, this paper analyzes the causes of Chinese enterprises facing relevant barriers of entry from three perspectives: absolute cost advantage barriers, product differentiation barriers, and policy entry barriers. At present,a large number of Chinese companies interested in entering the global high-end products market face a series of difficulties in trying to break through different barriers to entry.Through four dimensions: the technical disadvantages faced by enterprises, the predominance of monopolistic enterprises in market,China's market economy status, and the inclination of China's industrial policies towards enterprises of different ownerships, this paper analyzes and summarizes the difficulties faced by most Chinese manufacturing enterprises when they struggle to break through relevant barriers to entry. In the history,a large number of manufacturers in the technological catch-up countries in East Asia have succeeded in breaking through barriers to entry and gaining a foothold in the US high-end product market. In recent years,China has also created pioneers like Huawei who successfully broke through the barriers to entry in the global high-end products market.Analysis of the successful experiences of these vendors is of great guiding significance for Chinese manufacturing companies that are still struggling to break through barriers to entry in the high-end products market.Based on the industrial policy of the Japanese and South Korean government, the unique path of Japanese and Korean companies to break through the barriers to entry in the US market, and the experience of Huawei's successful entry into the global high-end product market, this paper combs paths of breaking through barriers of entry in the high-end products market, which could be promoted to all enterprises in the manufacturing industry.China's socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics, with public ownership being the mainstay and multiple forms of ownership develop together, fundamentally determines that a series of policies formulated by the party and the state will determine the boundary of the future development of China's manufacturing industry at a fundamental level. In the era of a large number of disruptive innovations and emerging technologies that continue to promote the development of advanced manufacturing, within the good innovative development environment created by the party and the government,if policies can solve the short-board problems faced by China's manufacturing industry in the development of high-end manufacturing,China's manufacturing industry will have the opportunity to overcome the traditional manufacturing powers in many fields in the midst of the fourth industrial revolution. At the same time,as the main participants of the market economy, the company's own behavior determines the future development prospects of the enterprise.Only by selecting the development model that meets the needs of the times, would the company have the opportunity to successfully enter the high-end products manufacturing field and the global mainstream high-end products market in the context of industrial upgrading. This paper separately proposes the path of breakthrough of barriers of entry from the aspects of government policy and vendor behavior.Aiming at the difficulties faced by Chinese enterprises in breaking through barriers to entry,in four dimensions: supporting company's technological progress by strategies for founding a nation through science and education, clearing the policy obstacles by taking the advantage of China's being great power, the service-type government creating a good innovation and development environment for enterprises and enterprises strengthening their own competitiveness, this paper recommends a series of policy and path recommendations, such as: improving the national R&D intensity, expanding the scope of free trade, perfecting the national quality management system and improving company's product design level, quality level and marketing capabilities, etc.
