Research On The Relationship Between Incubation Network Embeddedness,Innovation Behavior And Incubated Enterprises Performance

Business incubator has been played an important role in promoting technological innovation,transforming scientific and technological achievements,incubating scientific and technological enterprises,building the national innovation system,and boosting regional economic development.Which has been increasingly concerned with the theory and innovation incubation practice.At present,it has been the main mode of incubator development to provide network services.However,from the perspective of domestic and foreign research,that path mechanism is still ambiguous for the relationship between incubation network and incubated enterprises performance.The relevant research conclusions are still in dispute and need to be studied in depth,and then open the black box of incubating mechanism.Second,it is the important to embed social network for enterprise innovation to use of social capital.However,enterprises are faced with the dilemma which to easily trap into pan-si hole with enriching network relationships.Therefore,in the incubator network incubation situation,whether to incubation network would improve and how to improve the performance of the incubator,which needs to be studied in depth.Based on the in-depth theoretical exploration of domestic and foreign literature,this paper conducts exploratory case studies through three typical business incubators and builds a conceptual model of network incubator environment,including incubation network embedding,innovation behavior and incubated enterprises performance.Combining with the existing theory,and then put forward the corresponding research hypothesis.Through collecting relevant sample survey data,by SPSS23.0 and AMOS21.0 to conduct empirical analysis of relevant research hypotheses,and verifying the path relationship of "incubation network embedding-innovation behavior-incubation performance" use hierarchical regression analysis,and analysis of the mediating mechanism of the innovation behavior,and empirically tests the effect of incubator network behavior on relationship of "incubation network embedding-innovation behavior-incubated enterprise performance".This study has drawn the following conclusions and has important theoretical and practical values.First,under the background of organizational network evolution,the incubator is the special business intermediary organization.It provide various resources and services for the incubated enterprises by social relations,integrate various social capitals,and better meet the entrepreneurial needs of the incubated enterprises.Its network behavior present that network orientation and tertius iungens.The network orientation is that the incubator builds individual network for its own potential interests,which present expanding the internal and external network connections to create network scale effects and agglomeration effects.While tertius iungens is to identify potential collaboration opportunities among other network actors in the incubation network,and promote their establishment of direct contact,which present connecting of a wide range of commercial resources to the incubated enterprises,and creating network synergies to induce organizational innovation.The description of incubator behavior based on network theory deepens the theory of innovation incubation and provides theoretical support for the current innovation incubation mechanism.This is of great significance to guide the incubator’s service capability enhancement and business model innovation.Second,the research proposes the path mechanism of "incubation network embedding-innovation behavior-incubated enterprises performance",and in-depth reveals the innovation path of incubated enterprises.The study shows that incubation network embedding is inversely U-shaped in relation to the incubated enterprises performance.The relationship is inverse U-shaped between incubation network embedding and exploratory innovation,while incubation network embedding positively affects the exploitative innovation.Therefore,incubated enterprises embedded incubation network influences their innovative behavior,ultimately impact on the incubated enterprises performance,and the innovation behavior(exploration and exploitation innovation)plays the partial intermediary role.The research deepens the impact mechanism of incubation network on the path of innovation,and fills in theories gaps in this field.Therefore,the incubated enterprises should make full use of incubation network social capital,and also need to be alert to the path dependence,incubation network structure and cognitive lock-in,leads to the lack of innovation vitality,which present the problems of low-end imitation and short-term profit orientation in start-up.Third,in context of incubators,new venture start business that embedded in the incubation network.The incubator network behavior has regulatory effect on the relationship of "incubation network embedding-innovation behavior-incubated enterprise performance".First,in the high network orientation context,which create network scale effect,and improve the efficiency of using network resources for incubated enterprises innovation and indirectly reduce start-up cost.Therefore,the incubator network orientation has positive effect on the relationship between incubation network relationships,structure,cognition embedding,and incubated enterprises performance.High network orientation enhances the positive and negative effects of network embedding,which will be steeper for inverted U-shaped relationship between incubation network embedding and incubated enterprises performance.At the same time,incubated enterprises use network resources to increase the efficiency of innovation,which is more steep the inverted U-shaped relationship between network embedding and exploration innovation,while the linear relationship increased between incubation network embeddedness and exploitation innovation.Second,the highly tertius iungens context to create network synergies,the efficiency is significantly improved for incubated enterprises to innovation by using network resources and knowledge,which are also correspondingly strengthened the positive and negative effects to embedded incubation network,incubation network embedding and incubated enterprises performance.It will be more steep for influence inverted U-shaped relationship.At the same time,the incubator tertius iungens improve the efficiency of using network resources and new knowledge to technological innovation.The inverted U-shaped relationship is steeper between incubation network embeddedness and exploratory innovation,while the linear relationship is enhanced between incubation network embeddedness and exploitative innovation.In incubator context,incubated enterprise embedded in incubation network to acquire the knowledge and resources needed for entrepreneurship,which influences the innovation behavior and ultimately translates into the incubated enterprise performance.That is affected for this non-linear innovation path relationship by the incubator network behavior,and play the regulatory role.That show the action factor at the incubator level is the important contingency factor to the incubated enterprises innovation path.This conclusion provide theoretical basis to relieve the negative effects of network embedding and explain the research implications between incubation network and incubated enterprises performance.
