Abstract/Summary:
The goal of Christian education is to mature a Christian to the image of Christ. The Bible teaches that such sanctification only occurs when the Christian's heart is ministered to the Holy Spirit. This research surveyed the current literature that examines the relationships between sanctification and the Holy Spirit. The biblical concept of the heart refers to the whole faculties of man including the emotional, intellectual, physical, volitional, and spiritual components. One effective way to analyze the ministry of the Holy Spirit to the whole personhood of a human being is to use the framework of personal knowledge. Taking the concept of Knowledge by Acquaintance from Brandon Rickabaugh, this researcher developed a framework that reflects how personal knowledge of the Holy Spirit works in sanctification. Thus, being aware of the crucial need for qualitative research on the sanctification ministry of the Holy Spirit, the researcher conducted a content analysis on Luke-Acts using the Knowledge by Acquaintance framework to find out about the work of the Holy Spirit in Christian sanctification. First, all 106-textual data were collected from Luke-Acts that contain the word [special characters omitted] and the researcher selected 71 verses that specifically refer to the Holy Spirit. After analyzing these 71 verses, the result revealed five acting roles of the Holy Spirit in the sanctification of a Christian.
