Abstract/Summary:
The problem. The purpose of the present study was to assess the association between the MMPI-2 scores of firefighters and their job evaluation score by their supervisors 5 years later.Method. A one-way ANOVA, t-test, and a multiple regression analysis were conducted on archival data from the psychological testing of 78 firefighters from Santa Clara County in California. Each firefighter was referred to Behaviordata, Inc. in Cupertino, California for psychological testing and were administered a MMPI-2, CPI, and drug and alcohol testing. Five years post employment the applicants were then evaluated and ranked according to a Likert scale by a Fire Chief, Battalion Chief, or the Head of Human Resources.
