Abstract/Summary:
Distance education and online learning are growing enrollments by 33% per year (Bocchi, Eastman & Swift, 2004). Business programs are some of the largest online programs. Work demands, family obligations, and other personal restraints have made online learning attractive for both traditional and non-traditional students. The quality and perceptions of online courses has been a hot topic in higher education over the years. Since business faculty are at the forefront of teaching and learning in online environments, their perceptions and viewpoints of effective online learning can help bring light to the successes and complexities of online learning. Data collected for this study was taken from online business faculty members. Through the use of an online questionnaire, faculty were able to give responses to open-ended questions. From the responses, answers were recorded and coded for the findings in the study. This study uncovers the perceptions of business faculty members in regards to online student learning.
