Abstract/Summary:
The study was conducted to investigate the participation motivation and constraint factors of the participants who were engaged in marine recreational sports at the South Bay Beach of Kenting Scenic National Park, Taiwan. A survey was conducted and the subjects chosen to participate in this study were the participants who visited this beach for marine recreational sports. The convenience sampling method was adopted for this study with 374 valid questionnaire responses received. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way MANOVA, simple correlation, canonical correlation, and structural equation modeling. The findings of this study were: (1) The questionnaire used in this study was a reliable and valid instrument. (2) The results indicated that marine recreational sports participants have varying demographic characteristics were often involved in different ratios which corresponded to the hypotheses. (3) The marine recreational sports participants with varying demographic characteristics indicated significantly different participation motivation, yet no difference in their participation constraint. This result matched part of my hypotheses. (4) There is a close relationship between the participation motivation and constraint of the marine recreational sports participants. That is those who with higher participation motivation showed lower levels of intrapersonal constraint, yet higher levels of interpersonal and structural constraint. This result matches my hypotheses.; Key words: Concerned Party, Constraint, Constraint Factors, Extrinstic Motivation, Intrinsic Motivation, Marine Recreational Sports, Participation Motivation, Recreational Sports, Recreation Participation Constraint Factors, Structural Equation Modeling...
