Abstract/Summary:
Women in the mortgage industry have increased their numbers in entry level and mid-management positions. They have not found similarity with their male counterparts in attaining positions of leadership and are still notably underrepresented. Defining a career profile of women leaders in the mortgage industry may be used to inform future and current women in the mortgage industry of ways to establish their leadership role. A quantitative study was conducted utilizing members of the National Association of Professional Mortgage Women. The 23-question survey was used to collect the data. The results of this study will identify personal and professional characteristics of women leaders in the mortgage industry. From the data analyzed, a profile was created which current industry women and future women in finance will utilize to identify gaps in their education, careers and career paths of women entering and in the finance industry. Recommendations for further study to expand these findings are also included.
