When preparing to perform choral music with a French text, the choral director has a number of resources for gaining help with the pronunciations and translations. These include French dictionaries, French diction books, and online resources in French pronunciations and translations. There is, however, no single resource that provides word-by-word translations, International Phonetic Alphabet transliterations, and paraphrase translations all in one volume. This dissertation is directed to choral conductors who wish to perform choral music with French texts and who would like to improve their performances through a better understanding of the texts and of their pronunciations.
