This study investigated the reasons why attorneys in the state of Georgia are disciplined. An historical investigation showed that the vast majority of attorneys were disciplined for (a) abandonment of a client or legal matter, (b) misconduct involving the attorney's trust account, or (c) conviction of a crime involving moral turpitude. A quantitative investigation was conducted in order to determine if attorneys in the state of Georgia had actual knowledge or experience with opposing attorneys engaging in willful and wanton misconduct involving litigation. |
