The intent of this dissertation is to examine child, perpetrator, and family factors related to reported incidents of child abuse in a rural Pennsylvania county. Over the last several years, child abuse and infant death has plagued the McKean County community. In order to examine the factors associated with child abuse cases, a 3-year retrospective review is undertaken using data provided by McKean County Children and Youth Services. Analysis of the data is used to describe the problems in the county associated with child abuse. Based upon the findings, recommendations for the integration of community resources and models of preventative programming are suggested. |
