This dissertation details the treaty-making process of the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and Their Destruction, also known as the Mine Ban Treaty. It reviews many of the actors, decisions, and events that transpired to make the Mine Ban Treaty. Specifically, it illuminates the active role that non-state actors played in the Mine Ban Treaty process. It also establishes a ten-point outline of the Mine Ban Treaty process and offers ideas for future research. |
