Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this quasi-experimental research study was to determine the effect of the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program on student achievement, engagement, and behavior. The quantitative and qualitative data gathered from this study indicated no significant difference in student achievement, engagement, or behavior when AVID students were compared to non-AVID students. The findings of this study will inform school leaders and districts considering the AVID program and contribute to the literature on the AVID program and its use in high schools.
