Abstract/Summary:
The problem. The purpose of this study was to closely examine and describe the implementation of an Internet-based reading program and to investigate whether this particular type of technology innovation has an impact on literacy.;Method. A case study methodology included interviews as the main form of data collection and focused on the implementation of the Internet-based reading program by four classroom teachers in grades kindergarten through third grade within the context of one elementary school site.;Results. This study provided insights and a detailed description of the factors and roadblocks that affect the first-year implementation of an innovative technology. The results demonstrated that some teachers are ready and willing to integrate an Internet-based reading program with their classroom curriculum to motivate students and provide targeted instruction.
