Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to explore the impact inquiry-based instructional strategies had on student achievement. Furthermore the study identified schools that demonstrated high levels of performance on the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge between 2008 and 2010. These identified schools' educators, whom were aligned with the reported successes, were invited to participate in this study. Those who participated in the study provided an account of the instructional strategies used among those students who historically demonstrated high levels of achievement. The collected data allowed the researcher to summarize the chosen strategies and furthermore report on the high degree of frequency in which inquiry-based strategies were employed. It was concluded that inquiry-based instructional strategies were effective strategies aligned with high achieving students.
