Abstract/Summary:
The attractiveness of distance learning courses has led to the employment of a rapidly increasing number of online adjunct faculty. This research study used the Delphi method to investigate the perceptions of online distance education coordinators concerning the administrative support services required for online adjunct faculty. In addition, this study looked at the actual implementation of administrative support services that were identified as important to online adjunct faculty. The findings show that while there were a large number of administrative support services that were identified as important, these administrative support services were not implemented equally across campuses of the participating members' institutions. This finding indicates an acknowledgement of the need for administrative support services but more research is needed to identify why these administrative services are not being provided consistently.
