Abstract/Summary:
Zinc is a metal with great industrial applications because its propitious corrosion properties in atmospheric exposures and low cost. It has been characterized zinc electrochemical behaviour with the main pollutants agents (eg.: sulphates (SO42-), chlorides (Cl-)) detected in the atmosphere of the province of Las Palmas by electrochemical techniques. Also, has been developed x ray diffraction analysis to identify quantitatively the effect of those pollutants on zinc corrosion. As well, it has been characterized the zinc corrosion products film using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques.;Moreover, it has been empirically analized corrosion data. These corrosion data were obtained by gravimetrics methods in zinc simples exposed to the atmosphere in the islands of Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Also, it has been determined the corrosivity categories for each corrosion stand to elaborate the corrosivity maps for the province of Las Palmas (using the Internacional Standard ISO 9223:1992 (E)).
