It is well known that corrosion will bring serious destruction. Wecan find out the corrosion occurred in equipment, architecture etc.before observable damage is sustained by corrosion detection ormonitoring. So people can take remedy approaches previously tominimize the economic loss. The main project of this paper is todevelop simple corrosion detecting instrument used in field such asatmosphere, seawater and soil. And it belongs to 973 project. There has two parts in the paper: The development of atmospheric corrosion detecting instrumentbased on galvanic corrosion is the first part of the work. Thesubsequently performance testing experiments such as error analysis,ACDC in NaCl solution and ACDC in thin layer electrolyte and thestudy of corrosivity of LY12 alloy in thin layer electrolyte of differentCl- concentration indicate the nice performance of the detectinginstrument. The instrument can be applied to many corrosion in atmosphereoccurred in metal materials. As follows:2 The effects temperature, humidity and composition of atmosphere take on the corrosion.2 Evaluate the resistance to atmospheric corrosion of metallic materials.2 Evaluate the galvanic corrosivity of different metals in atmosphere.2 Monitor the atmospheric corrosion. The second part was detecting instrument of metallic materials'corrosivity based on potentiostatic circuit. The succedent performancetesting proved that the detecting instrument has nicer excursion andload characteristic, very short response time and wide capacitive loadrange. If we use virtual instrument to produce waveform signal for thedetecting instrument many experiments can be carried out. The nicer performance of the detecting instrument was proved alsoby the measurement experiment of RP . IIThe two detecting instruments share a lot of common points: a fewcontrolling switches, operated simply, aviatic bnc connector plugs usedto be the safe interface of cell, powered by 220V AC, digital displayeretc.
