Abstract/Summary:
The main objective of this dissertation is to investigate the effects of varying the substituent, solvent, and ligand on silyl substituted allylic and benzylic organolithium compounds. Several allylic and benzylic lithium compounds with attached potential ligands for lithium were prepared. The syntheses of (2-((bis(2-methoxyethyl)-amino) methyl) -1-(dimethylethylsilyl)allyl) lithium (4-1), (2-((bis(2-methoxyethyl)-amino) methyl) -1-(t-butyldimethylsilyl)allyl) lithium (4-2), (2- ( (cis-2,5-bis(methoxymethyl)-1-pyrrolidinyl) methyl) -1-(trimethylsilyl)allyl) lithium (5-1), (2- ( (cis-2,5-bis(methoxymethyl)-1-pyrrolidinyl) methyl) -1-(dimethylethylsilyl)allyl) lithium (5-2), (...
