Abstract/Summary:
The transition between lyotrope and thermotrope rheology is investigated using hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC) liquid crystalline polymer. HPC exhibits a pure thermotropic phase at elevated temperatures and room temperature lyotropic phases at moderate concentrations in m-cresol. The phase diagram of HPC/m-cresol is presented.
