| This project proposes a comprehensive model of the human person. Drawing on C. G. Jung's work, it is claimed that the human psyche is divided into three major zones: Primary Awareness, Secondary Awareness and Tertiary Awareness. Each zone comprises several layers. Primary Awareness comprises the Cognitive Subpsyche, the Affective Subpsyche and the Instinctual Subpsyche. Secondary Awareness comprises the Personal Subpsyche, the Familial Subpsyche and the Cultural Subpsyche. Tertiary Awareness comprises the Transprimate Subpsyche, the Transmammalian Subpsyche, the Transorganic Subpsyche, the Preorganic Subpsyche, the Temporal Kosmological Subpsyche and the Pretemporal Kosmological Subpsyche. It is claimed that this model adequately describes the complete soul of the human.; The academic context for this personality model is interdisciplinary. It draws on the work of C. G. Jung, Thomas Berry and the new story literature, Theodore Roszak and the ecopsychologists, Ken Wilber and the transpersonal psychologists, addiction theory, religious traditions of the human, primate, mammalian, reptilian and early life science, geology and cosmology. It is proposed that in a healthy human soul the energy of its source, God, radiates through all the psychic layers. In this model the human soul contains and is contained by the totality of its environment, including its individual, familial, cultural, interspecies, biological, geological, planetary, universal and divine context. To harm or destroy the functioning of any of these environments is to diminish the human soul. The work of psychology is to heal the soul. Integral psychology integrates the human soul within its environment, promoting healing of the whole. |
